Madoka Magica celebrated its 10th anniversary over the weekend. During the event, fans of the franchise enjoyed several new offerings, including merchandise and other related activities to mark the milestone.

Everything seemingly went well but, it has become a shock when an announcement went public. Comic Book reported that it was about an upcoming film, which will serve as a sequel to the last movie in the series.

Fans consequently received confirmation that the production is currently developing the new material. It carries the title, Madoka Magica: Turning the Tide of Walpurgis, which is a direct continuation of the events from the 2013 film, Madoka Magica The Movie Part 3: Rebellion.

The heads over at the franchise have yet to release the exact details of the movie's release. But, during the announcement, they released a short clip, which has since served as the material's first teaser trailer.

Reports said that there is, also, an artwork, featuring Madoka Kaname "in her usual pink outfit." While the character looks all calm and "cute," the poster has cracked glass in front of Madoka with a shadowy hand reaching out to her from the other side. Accordingly, it is now expected that the film will have "twisted elements" to it, much like what the earlier films offered to the fandom.

Aside from the teaser materials, the announcement confirmed, as well, the return of the original production team. These include director Akiyuki Shinbo, character designer Ume Aoki, and writer Gen Urobochi, according to Comic Book Resources.

The original cast members will, also, reprise their roles in the new Madoka Magica film. Fans will hear again the voices of Aoi Yuki, Chiwa Saito, Kaori Mizuhashi, Eri Kitamura, Ai Nonaka, Kana Asumi, and Emiri Kato. They will lend their voices, once more, to the characters of Madoka, Homura, Mami, Sayaka, Kyoko, Nagisa, and Kyubey, respectively.

The 10th-anniversary celebration provided the fandom with new treats of merchandise. The most iconic of them all is the life-sized replicas of the Soul Gem and Grief Seeds, which both appeared on the original anime series, Puella Magi Madoka Magica.

The items do not only reflect the exact appearance of the props but, also, have specific functionalities, like what they do on the series. Anime News Network said that pressing the button on the Soul Gem will play some lines from the series. As for the Grief Seed, pressing it against the Soul Gem will make the latter light up "as if it is being purified."

The original series premiered in 2011. It has since become an all-time favorite among anime fans and lovers across the globe. Madoka Magica housed 12 episodes, which were, later on, condensed into two film compilations a year after.

Following the film releases, the sequel story Rebellion, which served as the third part of the film series headed toward the big screens in 2013. Avid viewers and fans have since waited for the continuation of the material, and it is now confirmed to arrive soon.
