Crunchyroll is set to work on another anime series. This is not surprising, though, considering that this is what they always do to expand their library. What is shocking is that they are collaborating with World Wrestling Entertainment for this new project.

The confirmation came from WWE on Friday. Through social media platforms, the organization announced that they have sold an anime series to the publishing and production company.

Comic Book noted that details remain scarce about the collaboration. No further information has been shared yet before the public. But, it is, reportedly, expected that both institutions will drop more updates in the next few months.

The same publication continued that the material is not the first wrestling anime ever. For interested viewers, titles, like Baki The GrapplerUltimate Muscle, and Tiger Mask are some of the most popular anime series that "pay homage to the world of professional wrestling." Despite this, though, the upcoming unnamed title will "certainly be the first" from WWE, the largest professional wrestling organization today.

It, also, reportedly, makes sense why they have chosen to work with Crunchyroll. As explained, the streaming giant in the world of anime is "one of the biggest in the world."

Aside from the social media post, WWE President Nick Khan, also, released an official statement to talk about the shocking project. It took place during their earnings call on Friday.

He reiterated that they have sold a "multi-episode anime series to Crunchyroll, which is now owned by Sony." He pointed out, as well, that the organization remains "focused on developing the slate of original programming" from their studio, adding that this is in continuation of their brand's expansion "beyond the ring."

Following the confirmations, many netizens expressed their shock and curiosity over the project between WWE and Crunchyroll. On Twitter, the majority of these individuals took their responses to the original post's tweet.

While several of them are seemingly celebrating because the collaboration is not usual, others are wondering how it will work. One Twitter user even said that they are "morbidly curious" as to how the project will turn out.

With the apparent curiosity, the interest in the material continues to increase. This is why many individuals, also, remain persistent in speculating what it will be about and whether it will feature notable wrestling personalities.

Amid all the questions and assertions about the latest project from Crunchyroll, they have yet to give definitive responses. But, there is no doubt that this will keep everyone waiting for further announcements.
