It has been nearly two years since fans last saw Saitama and the gang on the small screen, and there is no confirmation yet if there will be One Punch Man Season 3. Though fans are pretty sure the anime will return, it looks like it will have another significant delay.

Fans waited about four years to see the series' second season after its debut season concluded. As One Punch Man Season 3 may have the same fate, here are the probable reasons behind it.

According to BlockToro, the main reason why a third season is yet to be officially announced because it lacks source material. This just means it has no enough manga chapters to adapt, so Yusuke Murata still has to work on that.

The anime creators can't start the third season production unless they already have a complete storyline on hand. Also, the fan backlash about the second season's studio change, from Madhouse to JC Staff, may have still confused the makers.

It is also good to note that the current COVID-19 pandemic may be one reason One Punch Man Season 3 is yet to come out. As the coronavirus disease remains a big threat to the health of many, it continuously affects a lot of things--even the shows' productions.

So, what may happen when Saitama returns? Devdiscourse noted there might be more action-packed scenes involving the fan-favorite superheroes and the most hated villains compared to the previous seasons.

After Garou's fight against a group of heroes in the second season's final episode, he may face the Caped Baldy himself. There is a huge interest in these two's fight, and fans may finally witness their brawl in the next installment.

Compared to Saitama's other opponents, Garou will possess an additional ability and have more screen time. So, viewers are about to see more of him in One Punch Man Season 3.

In addition, there are theories the new season may adapt to the Monster Association Arc, featuring more of the monsters and the villains. Fans may even see the Monster King and the Monster Association leader, Lord Orochi, going head-to-head against Saitama.

Meanwhile, although the new season's release is yet to be announced, there are predictions it may drop in the summer of 2022, per Spoiler Guy. It is quite impossible to be out this year with the lack of updates. As fans are now pressuring its makers to do the new season, they may soon hear their cries.
