The Gundam franchise has a lot to celebrate this year. Aside from its upcoming films and movies, it has now unveiled the first life-size statue outside of Japan.

Comic Book reported that the work on the project has now been completed. The public first learned about the massive figure of "Freedom Gundam" in China last summer.

It features 59-feet of height, which reports deem as "impressive." The specs of the statue, also, reportedly, show how much work has gone into the suit.

It stands outside of Mitsui Shopping Park Lalaport Jinquiao. The publication said that it makes total sense why officials have chosen the said venue because the mall has a large store "filled with Gunpla goods."

While many citizens have already taken a gander at the newly finished Gundam structure, it still has a few more additions to go through. As noted, finishing and polishing processes are still ongoing until the official launch.

The outlet said that the completion of the entire project will coincide with the mall's opening. To mark its public launch, a special ceremony will take place on May 28. There will, reportedly, be light and sound performances, much like what the Gundam statue in Tokyo offers to its tourists and residents.

Amid the finishing touches for the statue, several netizens have since posted numerous photos and clips on social media. Hypebeast released a report, covering some of these materials.

It appears that many are in celebration of Gundam's new milestone. The success is not surprising, though, considering that the franchise had just recently unveiled its first life-size moving statue in Japan.

Last December, the first 59-feet moving Gundam statue was unveiled to the public. The Japan Times said that the media had a first look at the giant robot in Yokohama earlier in November.

It officially launched a month after, alongside the opening of the Gundam Factory Yokohama Complex. As reported, it came a year after the 40th anniversary of the debut of Mobile Suit Gundam.

Weeks ahead of the official launch of the Shanghai statue, avid Japanese fans and followers will witness the first film of the Mobile Suit Gundam: Hathaway's Flash trilogy. It will premiere on May 7 and is being regarded as the "biggest movie" of the entire Mobile Suit Gundam franchise.

On July 22, the final installment to the Gundam Reconguista in G will, also, drop on big screens. Reports said that a "Road Show" will take place ahead of the release to honor the film's arrival.
