The Gundam franchise is making a comeback this year. As two new film adaptations are set to arrive in the next few months, creator Yoshiyuki Tomino recently made a shocking declaration.

Comic Book said that the franchise head released a statement in one of his latest interviews. It has since created a buzz on various social media platforms, with reports deeming the assertions as "hilarious."

As it happened, Tomino vowed to "crush Kimetsu no Yaiba (Demon Slayer)" and "destroy Evangelion." This comes after a series of films from these franchises have previously dropped in Japan and succeeded in terms of viewership and rating.

Demon Slayer: Mugen Train premiered last October, while Evangelion 3.0 + 1.0: Thrice Upon A Time arrived earlier in March. Both materials met success in the country, with the publication stating that the former has become the "most profitable film" in Japan.

Accordingly, it makes total sense why creator Yoshiyuki Tomino sees it as a challenge. Nevertheless, he is seemingly positive that the Gundam film adaptations will do great upon their theatrical releases.

The publication continued that Demon Slayer: Mugen Train will, also, drop on American screens later this month. It remains unclear, though, whether Evangelion 3.0 + 1.0: Thrice Upon A Time and Mobile Suit Gundam: Hathaway's Flash will do the same in the next few months.

Mobile Suit Gundam: Hathaway's Flash is a three-part film adaptation, which was supposed to begin its course last July. But, due to the pandemic crisis, the project met delays and obtained a new release date.

The first part will drop on May 7, 2021. Many fans and followers are now gearing up for its premiere, which has since been deemed as the biggest movie in the Mobile Suit Gundam franchise. The Korea Portal noted that it will be set in the "futuristic city of Davao," Philippines.

The public will, also, witness the return of many veteran Japanese voice actors. One of them is Koichi Yamadera, who will voice Hundley Yeoksam.

Two months after the release of Mobile Suit Gundam: Hathaway's Flash, the third part of the Gundam Reconguista in G will drop on big screens. A separate report from Comic Book said that there will be a "Road Show" to honor the upcoming installment in the franchise.

Aside from being the creator of the original source materials, Yoshiyuki Tomino is serving as the writer and director of the film series. It will officially arrive on July 22, 2021.
