Princess Beatrice, the daughter of the Duke and Duchess of York, happily announced that she is pregnant with her first baby with husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi on the day Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are celebrating their third wedding anniversary.

According to royal insiders, the timing of the announcement is a "total dig" at the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who also stole the thunder of Beatrice's sister, Princess Eugenie, on her wedding day in 2018.

Royal biographer Robert Jobson does not believe that this has been just a coincidence. He said that Harry and Markle had it coming for doing the same thing to Eugenie when she married Jack Brooksbank. This incident was well-documented in the book, Finding Freedom, Harry and Markle's unofficial biography.

The biographer felt that Princess Beatrice would be very aware of how it would look if she told the world she's expecting during a special day for Harry and Markle, yet she went with it anyway. Sources also said that Beatrice and Mozzi delayed the pregnancy announcement a month after Prince Philip's funeral.

Beatrice, the queen's fifth grandchild, is set to give birth in the fall. Following the confirmation of the pregnancy, the queen released a statement through Buckingham Palace and said that the royal family is delighted with the baby news.

The baby will become the queen's 12th great-grandchild and the fourth baby to be born in the royal family in 2021. Beatrice's sister Eugenie welcomed her first baby with Brooksbank in February 2021. Their cousin, Zara Tindall, gave birth to her third child with Mike Tindall in the following month. Markle and Harry, on the other hand, are going to welcome their second child in the summer in the U.S.

In July 2020, Beatrice and Mozzi exchanged vows at a small-scale ceremony at a chapel in Windsor Castle, which was witnessed by Queen Elizabeth and the late Duke of Edinburgh. The couple would have married earlier if not for the COVID-19 scare.

Beatrice and Mozzi are said to be planning to move to a bigger house in Cotswold in the coming month. Sources said that the couple has been house hunting and has eyed a property with a party barn and a pool.

The queen's granddaughter currently lives in St. James Palace, a property of Her Majesty. However, it is understood that Princess Beatrice will give this up she moves to her new house with her husband and soon-to-be-born baby.
