Bill Gates was spotted for the first time in public since his divorce news with his wedding ring in tow following reports about his alleged affair with an employee nearly 20 years ago.

Outing with Daughter Weeks after Divorce Announcement

Multiple outlets reported that Bill was spotted Saturday leaving the Greenwich Hotel in New York City with his daughter, Phoebe, and Phoebe's boyfriend, Chaz Flynn.

Bill, who announced his divorce with Melinda in a joint statement, was seen wearing navy pants, a gray polo, and glasses. He also wore his wedding ring as he walked out of the hotel with security.

The weekend appearance was the first since his divorce news, as Bill has been laying low over the past three weeks.

His outing also came a week after a New York Times report alleged that the business mogul had "developed a questionable conduct in work-related settings."

Times Sources: Bill Pursued Women at Microsoft and Foundation

According to the Times report, people with direct knowledge of the matter revealed that Bill "pursued women who worked for him at Microsoft and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation."

One of the cases is said to have taken place in 2000, which prompted Microsoft's board of directors to open an investigation into Bill's alleged actions of initiating "an intimate relationship" with an engineer at the company.

The investigation was launched in 2019, one year before Bill stepped down from the Microsoft board. According to The Wall Street Journal, the decision for Bill to leave his board post was agreed on by board members who were pursuing the probe.

The Microsoft engineer wrote a letter to the board and alleged that her sexual relationship with Bill lasted for years.

Bridgitt Arnold, a spokeswoman for the Microsoft founder said the affair that took place nearly 20 years ago "ended amicably" and that the issue was "in no way" related to Bill's stepping down.

News of Bill's affair has raised questions about Microsoft's workplace culture and how much has changed over the years.

Nadella: Things Have Changed

Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella has spoken up about the matter on Microsoft's work ethics, stating that the "Microsoft of 2021 is very different from the Microsoft of 2000."

Nadella added that to the company, "the everyday experience of our people" is one of the main priorities. He also clarified that no matter how many years has passed, the company will "investigate" any issue that employees raise.

As part of Microsoft's efforts to improve the workplace, Nadella said a policy that started since 2006 required employees to disclose their workplace relationships.

Finally, Nadella said power should not be abused "in any form" in the workplace, which is why Microsoft sees to it that workers, regardless of their positions, can raise their concerns.

Bill and Melinda announced their divorce plans after 27 years of marriage earlier this month. The philanthropic couple said they will continue working together for their foundation of which they are co-chairs.
