Sung Joon is set to make a movie comeback this year. It will be his first film project since he completed his military service and wedded his non-celebrity girlfriend in 2020.

Koreaboo released a report on the matter, revealing the details of the upcoming movie. As noted, it is a "ghost-themed" material carrying the title of Ghost Mansion.

The actor will be taking on the lead role of Ji Woo, who is a webtoon artist. The story follows the character as he visits the Gwanglim Mansion "in search of new ideas" for his profession.

Ghost Mansion, which is based on a K-Drama series of the same title, will be an "anthology work," consisting of five ghost stories. It will feature terrifying experiences from day-to-day living, including hearing unusual noises between "floors, mold, and elevator scenes."

Jo Bareun, who previously worked on SLATE and Gand, directed the Sung Joon-lead film. He, reportedly, included his own directing styles, providing "fresh materials, unique stories, and unconventional characters."

The experienced director is, also, said to have taken "particular interest in the production." He even worked on the art and lighting of the set to "maximize the reality and fear" of the horror movie.

The official theatrical release will be on July 30. It will hit, as well, the platforms of Olleh TV, Skylife, and Seezn.

The public last saw Sung Joon on screens in 2018, before his military enlistment. He discreetly entered the service before the year ended.

Soompi reported that the Ms. Perfect actor completed his service later in July of 2020. But, due to the pandemic, the discharging process took place off-base. Accordingly, he left directly from his final position and no longer returned to his assigned base.

Days after his exit from the military, he took his thoughts to social media and expressed his gratitude toward his fans and followers. He updated them that he had come back "safely" after completing his service.

Weeks after his return to the scene, Sung Joon announced that he would marry his then-girlfriend, who is the mother of his child, come September of the same year. The Republic World said that the ceremony was private, and "away from any media limelight."

The same outlet, also, claimed that the actor made things official with his partner before enlisting himself in the military. He, reportedly, registered their marriage in court in hopes of tying the knot in 2018.

But, they had to delay the ceremony because of his mandatory enlistment. Accordingly, it makes total sense why he immediately announced his wedding just less than two weeks after completing his service.
