China reported Tuesday 29 new Covid-19 infections in the mainland, up from 27 from the previous day, the National Health Commission said.

As of July 12, China has tallied 92,095 cases, with the death toll unchanged at 4,636, officials said.

In Australia, health authorities reported a slight easing in new infections in Sydney Tuesday, but left open the possibility of extending Sydney's lockdown to contain an outbreak of the highly contagious Delta variant.

New South Wales state premier Gladys Berejiklian warned the city's more than 5 million people not to become complacent as officials reported 89 new local transmissions, Channel News Asia said.

In the Philippines, the Delta and Lambda variants are becoming a cause of concern and the health authorities are closely monitoring the country's border to prevent local transmissions.

"Our best defense is still to be vaccinated as soon as possible," Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte said in quotes by Philippine News Agency.

Over in Indonesia, four foreign tourists were ordered to leave the resort island of Bali Monday after violating health protocols as the country struggles with a devastating wave of illnesses and deaths.

The travelers from the U.S., Russia and Ireland were placed in a detention room at the immigration office while waiting for their flights to their countries, The Associated Press said.

In Malaysia, a vaccination facility was ordered to close for sanitization Tuesday after more than 200 volunteers and workers tested positive over the weekend, officials said.

The center has a capacity of around 3,000 doses daily and of the 453 workers and volunteers screened, 204 tested positive, Minister Khairy Jamaluddin said.

In Singapore, health authorities reported eight new local infections Tuesday, including three unlinked cases.

This is the highest number of local infections since June 28, when 12 cases were reported, according to the Ministry of Health.

In India, the government's immunization program continued to falter because of supply shortages and vaccine hesitancy, officials said.

A number of states, including the capital, Delhi, said they had run out of vaccine stocks this week while others were running critically low in many areas, particularly for those aged between 18 and 45 years old, The Guardian said.

Over in Japan, authorities will make additional donations of the AstraZeneca vaccine to Taiwan and other Asian countries this week, Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi said Tuesday.

Japan will ship out 1 million doses each to Vietnam, Taiwan and Indonesia Thursday as part of bilateral agreements with those governments, Reuters reported.

Meanwhile, South Korea said Tuesday that more than 800 of the 1,150 new infections have been detected in the greater capital area, where authorities have shut down nightclubs and banned social gatherings of three or more people after 6 p.m.

South Korea has added more than 13,000 infections for July alone, bringing its cases to 170,296, including 2,046 deaths.

Worldwide, there are currently 187 million cases of the disease with 4.04 million deaths.
