The much-awaited Princess Diana movie, "Spencer," will drop in a few days and everyone is now looking at the royal family to see their reactions to it. As many believe they will never like it, the People's Princess' former friend believes Prince William and Prince Harry will find it difficult.
Richard Kay told the MailPlus podcast "Palace Confidential," via Express, Prince Harry and Prince William might question "Spencer" "historical inaccuracies." He said Pablo Larrain, the film's director, had played "fast and loose" with the plotline, focusing mostly on the 1991 weekend when Princess Diana ended her marriage with Prince Charles.
As the two princes had a "rather disappointing view" of commercialized stories about their mother's life, they might feel the same with the Kristen Stewart flick. He added he was not even sure if the two dukes would watch the movie as they might find it "uncomfortable and difficult at times."
They might see "huge spots" where Larrain might change something that really happened. It has been known that there have been numerous tales and talks about Princess Diana in the past.
There are also factual stories said about her marriage with her former husband, Prince Charles. So, it remains to be seen how Prince William and Prince Harry will accept "Spencer."
Meanwhile, talking about the royal family, they have been known for not being fond of seeing stories about them, either on book, show or even movie adaptations-unless it will be positive news. So, Cosmopolitan noted that they are not pleased with the Larrain-directed film.
Journalist Robert Jobson told Us Weekly they did not like it, but they might have expected it. "It is the truth," he said about the royal family's reaction to the movie.
Jobson personally knew Diana before she died in a tragic accident in 1997. It has been 25 years since the world lost a gem.
He recalled he was still a young man covering her story at the time. Now, he is 56 and he knows there is no way that the royal family will not have a problem with the biopic.
So, he says it will be inevitable that the royal family will never like "Spencer" at all. The movie in question is a biographical and psychological drama that follows Princess Diana's life as she struggles to decide if she will end her unhappy marriage and stay with the royal family at Sandringham over the Christmas holidays. The film will be out across the U.K. on Friday, Nov. 5.
