The British Royal Family has had trying and challenging times in the last 12 months. This appears to be very applicable to the senior working royals, especially Kate Middleton and Prince William.

Alongside Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, the Cambridge Royals have taken more responsibilities in the last few years. This comes as Queen Elizabeth II faces her advancing age, as well as the exit of the Sussex couple last 2020.

While there have been good things, as well, 2021 has become an "exhausting" year for the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. Even so, sources told Us Weekly that they are now "looking forward to starting fresh" in 2022.

A similar report, also, previously emerged from Marie Claire. Insiders shared that Prince William and Kate Middleton are "already thinking ahead to 2022."

As claimed, the public will see a "transition of responsibility," adding that the royal couple will take on "additional charity work." They will reportedly make more appearances and attend more engagements and events come the new year.

The same sources continued that preparations for a potential royal tour are already in the works, as well. Moreover, they are, also, said to be "heavily involved" in the upcoming Platinum Jubilee of the Queen.

Kate Middleton and Prince William's plans were seemingly working as they intended to end the year on a positive note. This came after reports learned that the family will get together with Queen Elizabeth II this Christmas in Sandringham.

Apart from the future King and Queen Consort, sources asserted that their three young children were "absolutely delighted" to see the Queen in person again. Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis even reportedly spent hours picking their gifts for their great-grandmother.

These were the assertions about the Christmas of the British Royals a few weeks ago. However, the tune has since changed as the British Monarch had to cancel her plans for this year's festive season.

A recent report from Us Weekly has revealed that Queen Elizabeth II will not celebrate Christmas in Sandringham. She will reportedly stay in Windsor due to the latest COVID-19 case surges across the country, and Europe.

As to whether Kate Middleton and Prince William will still go ahead and mark the festive season with the Queen, no confirmations have been made yet. But, experts seemingly believe that they might stay at their countryside home, as well, in Anmer Hall.
