Samsung's next offering, likely called the Galaxy S22, will be launched in the hottest virtual space as of the moment: the metaverse.

Samsung created a virtual store within Decentraland, a 3D virtual world browser that some may compare to Second Life. Decentraland, which launched in February 2020, is also a cryptocurrency playground where members can connect their crypto wallets and buy plots of land as NFTs. Samsung may have paid for its 837X space with its own Mana cryptocurrency.

On Feb. 9 at 10 a.m. ET, Samsung will officially unveil its nifty Android gadgets online, in a YouTube video, on social media, and in 837X, a metaverse re-creation of its downtown New York City location (the physical address is 837 Washington St.).

Fans of the Galaxy S22 can get an NFT while watching the show, according to BGR, because this is the first year Samsung is bringing the metaverse into play. This metaverse Galaxy S22 experience also includes a quest centered on the environment.

However, the NFT you receive for completing the quest will be revealed on Feb. 14, which is odd. Why are all of these themes being combined? Perhaps that's a metaverse-only question.

Samsung will also hold a scavenger hunt within 837X. In the digital world, a character will instruct players on how to begin the quest. You will have to search the building for 10 recyclable product boxes. If you thought the Galaxy S22 metaverse experience would get you a real-life discount on the phone, you'd be wrong.

If you complete the quest, you will receive a seed that you must plant in the Sustainability Forest. Again, this is not a real place, but rather a digital world in Samsung's metaverse. That seed will grant you a special NFT badge, and this is where things get mysterious.

Return to the Samsung metaverse on Feb. 14 - yep, Valentine's Day - to complete the quest and receive your NFT badge, which will demonstrate your love for the forest.

According to the press release, Samsung will deliver other surprises along the road. Expect a second Easter egg search with a new special NFT badge.

It appears that Samsung's marketing staff was charged with flawlessly blending the Galaxy S22 Unpacked debut with Samsung's environmental initiatives, Valentine's Day, the metaverse, and NFTs.

Samsung fans hoping for a more traditional Galaxy S22 live stream can always turn to YouTube on Wednesday, if the metaverse version of Unpacked 2022 is too much for you.
