Ellen DeGeneres is about to say goodbye to her eponymous talk show, "The Ellen DeGeneres Show," after almost 20 years on the air. The host has officially announced the show's final airing and it will be full of huge surprises.

Last year, Ellen DeGeneres announced her decision to end "The Ellen DeGeneres Show." Though it was marred with huge controversy after allegations of toxic set behavior emerged in 2020, the comedian cleared the show's ending had nothing to do with this issue.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter back in 2021, the 64-year-old star said she wouldn't have a comeback for Season 18 if it were the reason she decided to end the show. She revealed her real purpose was to find something new that would challenge her.

"As great as this show is, and as fun as it is, it's just not a challenge anymore," she explained. With that said, a source told Us Weekly she wanted to make sure the show would end with a big bang.

The final season would be a celebration of its 18 years on the air, so it would definitely be a huge hooray. The Louisiana native already told her staff about the show's conclusion in advance to make it the best possible year they could.

So, fans are about to see the longtime friends of "The Ellen DeGeneres Show," like Jennifer Aniston, Jimmy Kimmel, Kim Kardashian, Tiffany Haddish, for the final season. It will also feature Melissa McCarthy, Julianne Moore, Melissa Etheridge and Sean "Diddy" Combs.

In addition, Deadline revealed the former U.S. First Lady Michelle Obama, Jennifer Garner, Channing Tatum, Serena Wiliams, Zac Efron and Adam Levine would also be seen before Season 19 officially wraps up. It would also include Behati Prinsloo, Gwen Stefani, David Letterman, Diane Keaton and Portia de Rossi.

As Season 18 was audience-less due to the COVID-19 pandemic restrictions, the final outing would have a lucky few viewers who could watch the show live in person. A press release revealed Ellen DeGeneres would celebrate and thank her fans for their support and love throughout the 19 years that the show aired.

Hence, it would be full of surprises, promising the final season to be much bigger than ever. There would also be trips down memory lane and a few detours.

"I promise you that we're going to have a fantastic final season," Ellen DeGeneres promised, per Entertainment Weekly. She also revealed in a tweet that the "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" finale would be out May 26 and she would miss it.
