Meanwhile, "One Piece" Chapter 1045 featured the continuation of the fight between Kaido and Luffy, per Anime News and Facts. Kaido believed Luffy was dead, but he watched as the Straw Hat Pirates leader bounced off the ground repeatedly.
Luffy had awakened his Paramecia Devil Fruit, helping him turn his surroundings into rubber. However, Kaido said Luffy's transformation should be similar to a Zoan user.
He lunged at Luffy and tried to devour him, but Luffy bounced around inside him and used Gomu Gomu no Fusen to expand both of their bodies. This confused Yamato and Momonosuke, who were watching from afar, thinking it was just one of Kaido's transformations.
As Kaido started to feel frustrated over his body turning into rubber, Luffy grabbed his eyes, latched onto his nose, and used Gomu Gomu no Dasshutsu Rocket to free himself from his body. He began to deflate, sending his body flying into the clouds.
He tried to re-emerge as a giant by using Gomu Gomu no Gigant. Kaido once again tried to bite Luffy, but the latter took advantage of his size and Kaido's snake form by using Gomu Gomu no Nawatobi and used Kaido's body as a jump rope.
