Fans can't still move on from 2NE1's surprising get-together at the 2022 Coachella in California. As no one saw this reunion of a lifetime coming, Minzy and CL broke their silence about it.
CL was set to appear at the 2022 Coachella alone. But thinking it would be more explosive if she brought Minzy, Bom and Dara with her on one stage together after six years, it resulted in the much-awaited 2NE1 reunion.
In an interview with StarNews, via AllKpop, Minzy revealed the mini-reunion felt really nice. She was excited to see different faces while performing at a big event like that with her group members.
"It was a moment I felt so many different emotions," she said. She also thanked fans who still warmly welcomed the K-pop hitmakers.
She revealed they prepared for their performance while thinking about the Blackjacks, the group's fandom, trusting they would be happy to see them all together. However, she admitted she couldn't avoid thinking they might have forgotten about them.
So with the continuous support they showed, Minzy felt really thankful. The 28-year-old star then revealed they learned about Coachella at CL's birthday.
From there, they shared their thoughts about the performance and the fans who were waiting for them, revealing they were preparing while making good memories. She added that the 2022 Coachella would be forever etched in their minds and hearts.
Alternatively, CL also shared her thoughts about it in a lengthy post on Instagram, translated by Soompi. She revealed she wanted to invite her fellow 2NE1 members after she got an invite to perform at the event to get together "through her and Dara, Minzy and Bom's strength" before it was too late.
Through their performance, she wanted to thank all the people who had been there for them for the past 13 years. Hence, their reunion was an important and meaningful day for her.
"Through this moment today, I hope those emotions you felt through us in the past are revived again," she continued. She then thanked her co-members for making their performance altogether possible.
CL promised to continue moving forward until they could grace one stage together for a full hour.
2NE1 2022 Coachella performance was part of 88rising's "Heads in the Clouds Forever" set. The group performed their hit song "I Am the Best" and managed to maintain strict confidentiality until their actual performance took the stage, marking their get-together in six years.
