Fans will once again see a new "Sailor Moon" movie on the big screen with "Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Cosmos." To excite the awaiting fans more, the franchise drops its first poster and trailer
The comeback will feature the biggest era of the anime. With that said, the new "Sailor Moon" movie will be adapting the manga's epic final arc.
Comicbook noted this would be the franchise's final installment and would be divided into a two-part movie. The 46-second trailer may be brief, but it revealed the juicy details of the film.
For one, it would feature the final mission of Usagi. She is about to face her most intense battles, but she will never be alone.
She will get the help of the Sailor Scouts, who will stay by her side as she faces her new enemies. The arrival of the mysterious Sailor Cosmos will surely impose a lot of questions among fans.
For starters, the franchise's creator, Naoko Takeuchi, started the Stars arc decades ago when the original manga was still being serialized. It follows the story of the scouts as they meet the Sailor Starlights and Princess Kakyuu.
However, their time is cut short when they learn Sailor Galaxia plans to take control of the whole Milky Way. Hence, Usagi and the rest of her friends have to stop these scouts' evil schemes.
The upcoming "Sailor Moon" movie's arc was already adapted for TV before. TV Asahi started to air the final arc in 1996 and wrapped the series in less than a year.
Now, in collaboration of Toei Animation and Studio Deen, fans will once again see this part of the storyline to life, per SportsKeeda. The two studios will work together to revive this special arc and the newly-released preview promises fans to properly give it the justice it needs--from animation to other works.
The upcoming two-part film will detail the conclusion of the "Sailor Moon" series many have loved in animated format. The manga has been serialized since the early 1990s, while the anime began in 1992, making it the biggest animanga series of all time, both domestically and internationally.
It has influenced a number of shojo-style series. As Usagi is about to come to terms with her role and actions, many hope the new "Sailor Moon" movie will make the series' ending a must-see. The two-part film is set to be out in 2023.
