Suzy Bae will finally return to the small screen after two years. The fan-favorite K-drama star will undergo a dramatic transformation in the new Coupang Play series, "Anna."
Coupang Play has dropped the first look at the South Korean star as she plays two characters in "Anna." By the looks of it, fans are about to see a different Suzy Bae this time.
In the first teaser, the 27-year-old's voice could be heard in the background as she narrated, "Humans lie even in diaries reserved only for their own eyes." She then introduced a woman named Yoo Mi.
Yoo Mi has a rather simple life. She lives in a rundown one-room and works several part-time jobs to make ends meet.
She then introduces Anna, who has a life full of luxuries. She's part of society's high class, attending private events and more.
These two characters only have one face, played both by Suzy Bae. How does this happen? AllKpop noted this all begins when a woman tells a single lie, resulting in living two different lives.
Soompi added Yoo Mi is the one who tells the small lie that leads her to live an untruthful life. In "Anna" official poster, she can be seen looking so elegant and alluring, but she has a mysterious expression on her face.
The image also shows her different faces, which appear behind as afterimages. This strategic placement of images leads to assumptions that Suzy Bae will show three-dimensional acting.
"A name I want, a life I want to steal," the text on the poster read. Aside from the "Vagabond" star, the show will also star Park Ye Young.
Kim Jun-han will also join the show as Yoo Mi's ambitious husband, Ji Hun, and Jung Eun Chae as Hyun Joo, who has everything in life and has always been on the top of everyone. "Anna" will be Coupang Play's second original series following "One Ordinary Day."
"Anna" is based on the bestselling novel "Intimate Stranger" by Jung Han Ah. It will be directed by Lee Joo Young and will premiere on June 24 at 8 p.m. KST on Coupang Play.
Meanwhile, aside from returning to the small screen, Suzy Bae also made her first appearance on a South Korean talk show and live music TV program, "Yoo Hee Yeol's Sketchbook," Pinkvilla cited. This marked her return to the stage after a long time.
As expected, fans were excited upon learning the news. This also coincided with the release of her comeback song, "Satellite," after Suzy Bae's four-year break.
