The talks surrounding Prince Harry's controversial memoir continue. As the royal family is reportedly "hugely nervous" about what it may contain, there are also threats that its earlier version may leak as Meghan Markle's husband is allegedly editing the book in the wake of Queen Elizabeth II's passing.
Several reports claim Prince Harry wants to edit his memoir to downplay everything he wrote about the royal family after Queen Elizabeth's demise. However, a royal expert still sees it as a "time bomb" for the revelations it may have.
Tom Bower, the author behind "Revenge: Meghan, Harry, and the War Between the Windsors," told Page Six that the Duke of Sussex's memoir is a bomb waiting to explode. Amidst the claims that he badly wants to edit the book, the former BBC journalist believes it may never happen.
He explains the Sussexes "can't amend the book in any way." "Can they make it nastier? Because otherwise, we wouldn't get sales," he continued.
The book is supposed to be out next month, but its release has already been moved to sometime next year. There are even rumors that it will be out around Easter and may feature a chapter about Queen Elizabeth's funeral.
Bower added that it might even include how they were snubbed at the event and other possible attacks against the royal family. That said, the delay will just make the worry worse.
Alternatively, British journalist Jonathan Sacerdoti told Express he hadn't heard anything about the book being "pulped." He explained that it usually happens when a publisher loses a legal case because of something printed in the book.
He also warned of the danger if Prince Harry indeed edits the book. If something has been rewritten or re-edited after it has been signed off and is about to be fully done, there's a risk that its earlier version may leak and be publicized even if it has already changed its focus or toned things down.
He added that the further it gets delayed, the stronger the possibility that its digital copies may be out and more people may see it, especially knowing how the virtual world works these days. So, even though Prince Harry has already made the changes, the original text may come out one way or another.
Elsewhere, rumors have it that Prince Harry may want to cancel the memoir's publication, which the royal family reportedly prefers. However, a full cancellation may never happen with a multi-million-dollar contract in tow. It's also said that King Charles III is waiting to see his son and Meghan Markle's other projects before he gives their kids, Archie and Lilibet, official titles in the monarchy.
