Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's new photos are now the talk of the town after the release of King Charles III, Camilla, Queen Consort, Prince William, and Kate Middleton's picture together. As many royal experts have different views on the Sussexes' portraits, two claim they're trying to replicate their royal lives, and it may be an insult to the royal family.
Royal biographer Tom Bower, who wrote "Revenge: Meghan, Harry, and the War Between the Windsors," believed Prince Harry and Meghan Markle released their photos to "humiliate the royal family." Allegedly, it's for them to show that they're now back in the business, building their own brand.
He told Page Six that the portrait was like the controversial royals' way of saying they were back on track, working on their books, Netflix series, and podcasts. "Everything is money," he said.
He even saw that their appearance at Queen Elizabeth II's funeral was an advantage for them, putting them in the public eye for a week after being filmed every day.
Bower even compared it to their appearance during Her Majesty's Jubilee celebrations, where they were barely seen, in June. But at the funeral, they were at the center stage.
Alternatively, royal columnist Daniela Elser saw Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's picture as their way to "replicate their royal lives" after stepping down from their senior royal roles. She alleged, via Express, that the couple continued to follow the "royal playbook" by carrying out "quasi-official engagements" and releasing their official photos themselves.
She couldn't even help asking what the two were trying to prove with their newly-released images. After criticizing The Firm ever since their infamous Megxit, Elser said they had remained committed to continuing doing royal strategies.
The photos in question were released by the photographer Misan Harriman. It was taken during the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's recent trip to the U.K. before Queen Elizabeth's passing on September 8. In one snap, the royal couple stood close and held hands before the opening of the @OneYoungWorld.
These snaps came two days after the Palace unveiled a picture of King Charles, Camilla, Consort, Prince William, and Kate Middleton together. The portrait was taken before the huge reception at the Palace for the Heads of State and Official Overseas Guests on September 18, ahead of Queen Elizabeth's funeral. The image was said to symbolize the monarchy's continuation despite the Queen's death.
