South Korean tech giant Samsung is known for many things, including its lead in the foldable devices market. It has already released a slew of leading foldables-namely the Galaxy Fold and the Galaxy Z Flip-that have attracted some consumers who are willing to pay for the added features.

While some companies have tried to produce potential competitor devices, not one of them reached the South Korean giant's performance in terms of foldable device sales. One of these is Motorola.

It can be remembered that the Lenovo-owned company tried to enter the foldable smartphone market with a revamped and modernized version of the iconic Moto Razr. This foldable, however, did not really do as well as Samsung's Galaxy Fold for some reasons, foremost of which is its pricing and specs.

As per Sammobile, that Razr foldable featured "outdated specs" like a small 2,500 mAh battery and a single 16-megapixel rear camera. These specs, coupled with a price higher than Samsung's foldable phone, the Galaxy Z Flip, led to its failure in the market.

It's worth noting that the Galaxy Z Flip is more like a phone whereas the Galaxy Z Fold is like a tablet that folds to become a smartphone.

Motorola then updated the Razr foldable for 2022, but since it still costs more than a Galaxy Z Flip 4, it still couldn't compete with Samsung's foldables.
Things might be different next year, however, as the Lenovo-owned tech company is reportedly working on new foldables that just might be what the company needs to make a dent in Samsung's sales.

According to a tweet from known tech leaker Evan Blass, "there are gonna be two RAZRs next year." One of these handsets is known by the codename "Juno," while the other is known by the codename "Venus."

The leaker didn't reveal any potential features that the said Razr phones will have. It's also currently unclear if they will arrive at the same time, or if there will actually be two Razr models in 2023.

What can be expected right now, however, is that if Motorola is indeed working on new Razr models to compete with Samsung, these could be cheaper than the Razr smartphones it has released to date. If it does that, then the South Korean giant just might have some real competition.

Blass is known for leaking many details about smartphones before they arrive, which adds some credence to his tidbit of information about the new Razrs. That said, readers better take these with a grain of salt and wait for official information as they come.
