OnePlus has launched its latest smartphone in the U.S. market, and while it costs way less than other handsets from popular brands, it boasts of great specs to beat. What's more, there's a way to get it for free.

In a press release, OnePlus had announced the new OnePlus Nord N300 5G, a handset that features decent specs good enough for most users at a price point that won't break the bank. The device starts at a mere $228 per unit, and buyers can get upgrades at higher price points.

To begin, the Nord N300 5G is powered by MediaTek's latest Dimensity 810 SoC, a 6nm chip with eight computing cores, including Arm Cortex-A76 cores. This is backed by 4GB of RAM and base 64GB of internal storage, which is expandable up to 1TB via microSD card.

The device packs a dual camera setup at the back, comprised of a 48MP main camera and a 2MP depth sensor. OnePlus said the main camera uses the company's trademark Nightscape and EIS technology to ensure faithful photo reproduction even in low-light settings.

In front is a 16MP selfie camera, which will be useful for stills and video calls. This camera is placed near the top of a 6.56-inch HD+ display with 90Hz refresh rate.

OnePlus said the new handset has a large 5,000mAh battery, and comes with a 33W SUPERVOOC charger in the box so that users can charge it quickly in the event that it needs a top up. The device also features a fingerprint sensor for security, and NFC for convenience.

How To Get It For Free

Now, those who are looking to get their hands on the said device can get it from T-Mobile, as well as Metro by T-Mobile, starting Nov. 3. Customers can get it for $228, less than that, or even for free if they meet certain requirements.

As per the self-proclaimed "un-carrier," T-Mobile and Sprint customers can get the new handset in Midnight Jade colorway for free with 24 monthly bill credits and after tax when adding a line. Metro customers, on the other hand, can get it for free when they switch to the carrier.

Alternatively, T-Mobile and Sprint customers can pay $9.50 per month on T-Mobile's no interest plan to get the device. Metro customers can get the device for $39,99, tax not included, when adding a line on eligible plans.

OnePlus fans who are looking to get an affordable upgrade that can take advantage of 5G networks can get the new device once it becomes available in November.
