Prince Harry will be busy promoting his controversial book, "Spare," in the coming months in preparation for its release in January. Now, rumors have it that Meghan Markle's husband will return to his hometown in the U.K. in the New Year to promote his memoir.

"Spare" is already topping the bestseller charts ahead of its release. As the senior royals are said to be bracing themselves for what the book entails, Prince Harry may return to the U.K.

There are reports that the Duke of Sussex will be in the U.K. in early 2023 to explain the real intent of his memoir. However, the palace is seen to retaliate to whatever negative revelation it contains, especially if it's against The Firm, and may see the stripping of the Sussexes' titles, The Daily Mail noted.

This visit is believed to have "cast a shadow" over the royal family's Christmas celebrations at Sandringham, the first without Queen Elizabeth II after her passing in September. Marie Claire claimed the Sussex couple has no plans to join the royals' holiday festivities two weeks before his book comes out.

A source told The Daily Mail that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's appearance during the family Christmas wouldn't be relaxing with the tension "Spare" brought.

Several reports claimed that the fifth in line to the throne submitted a copy of his book several times before the publishers officially accepted it, fearing it was "sexed up" with revelations about the royal family.

Another source told The Sun that the book went back and forth between Prince Harry, his ghostwriter, J.R. Moehringer, and the publishers a number of times. Allegedly, they wanted more from the book compared to what it had in the first draft.

Prince Harry then wanted to change a few things after Queen Elizabeth passed, but there was "extra toing and froing" that the public didn't know about. Allegedly, the publishers wanted more areas to be covered and to add more details to what it already featured.

So, "Spare" may feature revelations that Prince Harry himself may not be comfortable with exposing. The insider even warned that it might be "worse than what people think" it is.

However, a source close to the prince told The Telegraph that he wrote "Spare" for himself and not to put his family down. In fact, the ones familiar with its manuscript described it as a "beautiful read," and the experience of "addressing his past struggles in the writing process" had benefited him.
