Kim Kardashian has finally broken her silence over the controversial Balenciaga campaign on Sunday, November 27, on Twitter. The luxurious brand was embroiled in a viral scandal when it featured kids posing with BDSM-inspired items.

As one of the celebrities who have supported the brand, fans have been waiting to hear Kardashian's comment about the Balenciaga issue. However, Kanye West's ex-wife took a little while before she finally addressed the scandal.

The 43-year-old explained her side of what took her long to call out the brand for posting improper child photos. She defended herself, saying her silence didn't mean she wasn't disgusted by the campaigns, but she wanted to talk to their team to understand how such a thing could happen.

As a mother of four, she stated she was "shaken" by the disturbing images, knowing kids' safety should always be held with the highest regard. "Any attempts to normalize child abuse should have no place in our society - period," she continued.

Kardashian added that she appreciated Balenciaga's move to stop the campaign and issue an apology, showing they understood the severity of the issue. It also promised to take the necessary measures never to let this happen again.

"The Kardashians" star has been known for having close ties with the brand, walking in its fashion show in Paris in July and wearing its clothing on several occasions. However, her statement doesn't confirm if she will be cutting ties with it, per Hollywood Life.

For starters, Balenciaga shared a series of child photos holding bondage-inspired teddy bears and court documents from a child pornography case in the background.

The photographer behind the campaign also addressed the issue on Instagram, explaining his role in the ad. He stressed that he couldn't choose the products, the models, or the combination of the two as the campaign's photographer. All he could do was take photos according to his signature style.

Amid the backlash, the fashion house pulled the campaign and deleted the pictures from Instagram. However, it left the Story highlights and its official statement that contained its apology for the bad news bears.

A rep also noted, via New York Post, that its social media account is periodically wiped after each campaign and collection release. The controversial ad featured Balenciaga's spring 2023 collection, which debuted at Paris Fashion Week this fall. Aside from Kardashian, fans are waiting for Bella Hadid to address the issue, but to no avail.
