All eyes are now on "The White Lotus" Season 3 after the explosive second season finale. With major character deaths, what's next for the bunch of possible new vacationers in the next installment?
Thankfully, creator Mike White hinted at what might happen next in "The White Lotus" Season 3. From a new storyline to a new place and more, a lot is about to be seen here.
Warning: The following content contains major second-season spoilers. Read at your own risk.
In the post-credits interview, the TV and movie director revealed where the next season might take place. After the first and second seasons highlighted money and sex, respectively, the third installment would be satirical and funny.
It will look at death, Eastern religion, and spirituality differently. It feels like it could be a rich tapestry to do another round at 'White Lotus,'" he said.
So, where will "The White Lotus" Season 3 be set this time after traveling halfway around the world, from the Pacific to the Mediterranean, in just two seasons? White admitted it would be fun to go to a "whole different continent."
The first and second seasons were set in Hawaii and Sicily. So, this time, the producer told Deadline in October that they might go to Europe or Asia.
He even mentioned Japan as the most potential set location. Meanwhile, the second season finale also hinted that it might be in the Maldives after Daphne (Meghann Fahy) said in a toast, "Next year, the Maldives!"
In addition, White also addressed the unexpected death of the show's lead star and fan-favorite character Tanya McQuoid (Jennifer Coolidge). So, will there still be an original character joining "The White Lotus" Season 3?
He teased that someone may investigate Tanya's death and that her personal assistant, Portia (Haley Lu Richardson), may track everything down to her boss' husband, Greg (Jon Gries). There are theories the latter wants to kill his wife to have all her money.
But as Portia is the only original character from the first and second seasons, it may mean that many previous cast members are coming in the show's third iteration. In fact, many of them revealed they're open to the idea of reprising their roles.
One of them was Jake Lacy, who played the role of Shane. He told Deadline of his possible appearance in the series. Also, Fahy has already hinted at her return after suggesting a vacation in the Maldives.
There are no words yet when "The White Lotus" Season 3 will be out, but fans hope it will happen soon.
