King Charles III's coronation will occur next year, and many want to know if Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will attend the special event. As there are claims they wish to palace to issue an apology to them first before they attend the crowning, a poll reveals the public doesn't want them to be there.

King Charles' enthroning has reportedly been in the planning for years under the code name Operation Golden Orb. But with the controversy surrounding the royal family's strained relationship with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, will they attend?

Express held a poll from December 13 to December 21 to ask its readers if the Sussexes should stay away from the coronation. An overwhelming majority of 94 percent, or about 16,316 people out of 17,287 participants, said "yes"-they shouldn't be at the event.

Only five percent, or 878, said "no" and wanted them to be there, while 93 voters were undecided. The majority stressed that the coronation wasn't a family event, so Prince Harry and Meghan Markle didn't need to be there.

"This is a state occasion and not a family do," one reader commented on Express. One even suggested that King Charles should understand that the crowning is a pageantry for the British people, while another explained it's a state affair, so the Duke and Duchess of Sussex shouldn't be invited.

But some come to the couple and the monarch's defense, stating they should be invited as royal family members and the king could do as he wanted as a father. Another claimed Prince Harry could attend on his own as he's still His Majesty's son.

Though no official invitations for the enthroning have been sent yet, there are reports King Charles will "extend an olive branch" to his youngest child. This comes despite their explosive claims against the royal family in their Netflix docuseries, "Harry & Meghan."

There are also reports that King Charles already told the self-exiled pair that they would be welcome at the coronation, which coincides with their son Archie's fourth birthday on May 6.

This news comes on the heels of the claims that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle want the royal family to apologize to them before they attend King Charles' coronation, The Times reported. They allegedly demand a "sit-down meeting" with the senior members after their docu's release.

They are said to want the firm to "take responsibility" for the pain and damage they have been through. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle also demand the meeting to address the claims they have raised in their £88-million Netflix series.
