In a recent interview with Charlotte Cripps for The Independent, Sarah Ferguson expressed empathy for King Charles III as he navigates his role as monarch while dealing with the strained relationship between his sons, Prince William and Prince Harry. The Duchess of York shared her thoughts on family dynamics, drawing parallels to her own experience during her ex-husband Prince Andrew's legal battles and public scrutiny.

Ferguson, who supported Prince Andrew throughout his ordeal, acknowledged the challenges that the royal family faced during that time. She praised her daughters, Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice, for standing by their father, saying, "The three of us have helped their father through a very tricky time." The Duchess also expressed gratitude for the late Queen Elizabeth II's support, adding, "The Queen and I, when she was alive, we both bookended him to help him through this."

Despite their divorce, the Duchess of York maintains a friendly relationship with Prince Andrew and has publicly defended him, describing him as "a very good and kind man." In her conversation with Cripps, Ferguson reiterated her positive sentiments, stating that she "married a wonderful, very kind and a very good man" and that their love enabled them to overcome any obstacle.

The interview also touched on King Charles III's challenging position as the new monarch, with the ongoing tension between Prince William and Prince Harry. Ferguson confessed that she was unsure how the king was coping, saying, "I don't know how he's managing. I really don't." She further remarked on the extensive responsibilities and paperwork that the monarch faces.

The rift between the royal brothers has persisted since Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's exit from the royal family in 2020, further exacerbated by the couple's explosive interview with Oprah Winfrey in March 2021. Although the brothers appeared civil during Queen Elizabeth II's funeral events in September 2022, Prince Harry revealed in an ITV interview with Tom Bradby earlier this year that he remains estranged from Prince William and their father.

The upcoming coronation of King Charles III on May 6 may provide an opportunity for Prince Harry and Prince William to reunite. Although the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have received an email invitation, they have not yet confirmed their attendance. As the event coincides with their son Prince Archie's fourth birthday, it remains uncertain whether they will celebrate in California or attend the London ceremony.
