Tom Bower, a renowned British journalist, recently shared his views on Meghan Markle's conspicuous absence and silence as her husband, Prince Harry, battles the press in court.
During a conversation with Dan Wootton on "GB News," Bower, along with Wootton, considered the state of Prince Harry and Meghan's relationship. Meghan has remained notably quiet in the wake of her husband's legal disputes and public engagements, including his recent appearance in San Diego following his court testimony in London.
In response to Wootton's question about whether Meghan might be attempting to undermine Prince Harry, Bower dismissed the idea. Instead, he suggested that the Duchess might be questioning her husband's usefulness in her life.
"She may have reached a point where she no longer sees any benefit from him. He has bestowed upon her a royal title and fame, but what comes next?" Bower proposed. "If we look at her history-she distanced herself from her father, her first husband, and her Canadian boyfriend-she tends to move away from people once they no longer serve a purpose in her life. Is Prince Harry the next in line? Could we be witnessing the beginning of Meghan distancing herself from Harry as she embarks on the next phase of her career?"
The author of "Rebel King," Bower did not provide a definitive answer to his question. However, he expressed sympathy for Prince Harry and expressed disbelief at the idea of Meghan treating him poorly.
"It's difficult to imagine that she would treat Harry so cruelly, especially considering he is the father of her children," he said. "Her ongoing silence, particularly over the festive period, raises questions. My suspicion is that she's strategizing. I've always maintained that she's planning something significant. We have been anticipating this for some time now, and we continue to wait for her next move."
The Business Times has been unable to independently validate these statements.
Lee Cohen, a former Congressional staffer for the Foreign Affairs Committee and columnist, echoed Bower's sentiment during another episode of "GB News." When asked by Wootton about Meghan's absence in Prince Harry's legal matters, Cohen speculated that it might be because she feels she has exhausted all benefits from her royal connections.
"Meghan might believe she has reaped all possible advantages from her royal ties, her husband's homeland, the United Kingdom, and perhaps even from her husband himself," Cohen suggested.
