Despite the global trend of supply chain restructuring and the partial shift of production lines for basic products such as the iPhone to South Asia and Southeast Asia, Apple's cutting-edge mixed reality (MR) product, Vision Pro, will still primarily be manufactured by suppliers from mainland China and Taiwan.
According to a report by the South China Morning Post, a materials list by Chinese consultancy firm Wellsenn XR shows that seven mainland companies are on the Vision Pro supply chain list. Luxshare Precision is in charge of the complete machine assembly, ChangYin Precision and Luen Yick Electrical Mfg. Co., Ltd will provide the mid-frame and shell, Desay Battery will supply the power system, GoerTek Inc. will deliver the speaker modules, Megawin Technology will contribute the IPD drive system, and Cowell will handle the camera modules.

Apple's Vision Pro Suppliers Revealed: Seven Mainland Chinese Companies Including Luxshare Precision on the List
In addition, Taiwan's Commercial Times, citing a report from Morgan Stanley, stated that 11 Taiwanese suppliers were involved in the production of Vision Pro. These include major optical component manufacturer Radiant Opto-Electronics, optical lens product supplier Yujingguang, touch display technology provider Yecheng Group, and semiconductor manufacturing leader TSMC.
Companies from mainland China and Taiwan combined account for more than half of the total suppliers involved in the production of Vision Pro. Other suppliers include South Korean firms Samsung and LG, and Japanese company Sony.
Experts cited by the South China Morning Post say that the suppliers for Vision Pro are similar to those for the iPhone 15 and are all top-tier consumer electronics component suppliers globally. It is expected that even after Apple releases cheaper MR devices in the future, the supply chain structure might still resemble the current structure.
The Wellsenn XR report also noted that the material cost of the Vision Pro headset totals approximately $1,509, about half of the device's retail price of $3,499.
This material cost does not take into account Apple's research and development investment, nor the cost of labor, product testing, quality control, and other processes.
Prices for cutting-edge electronic products typically decrease with product iterations.
According to renowned Apple insider and tech reporter Mark Gurman, Apple may launch two new MR products in 2025, one an entry-level device called Apple Vision One and the other an upgrade of Vision Pro, Vision Pro 2.
