AC Milan is reportedly closing in on finalizing an over €20 million ($21.8 million) deal for Chelsea's forward, Christian Pulisic, as per inside sources. After personal terms were generally agreed upon last week, the Italian giants are said to be optimistic about securing an agreement with Chelsea regarding the transfer fee.

Believing that Chelsea's savings on Pulisic's annual wages-approximately €15 million-will assist in reaching an agreement, AC Milan has shown significant interest in the American star. Although Lyon has also expressed interest, Pulisic is said to consider a move to Milan as more beneficial for his career development.

Milan's second bid, totaling €22 million, is approaching the final stages of negotiation, according to reputable sports journalist Fabrizio Romano. With personal terms already set, and Pulisic pressing for the move, it seems the only hurdle left is finalizing the transfer fee. AC Milan's recent activity also includes working on a deal for Villarreal winger Samuel Chukwueze.

Pulisic, who had a €64 million move from Borussia Dortmund to Chelsea in 2018, has played four seasons with the Blues, tallying up 145 appearances. Despite a blazing end to the COVID-19-affected 2019-20 season, the 24-year-old American player has struggled to regain that form, causing some friction with fans.

His tenure at Chelsea saw him play just 813 minutes across all competitions in the 2022-23 season, starting only nine out of his 25 appearances. Despite his trials at the domestic level, Pulisic remains an essential asset for the United States, amassing 60 international caps and 25 goals.

Notably, Pulisic's move will not impact Milan's non-EU registration slots, as he holds a Croatian passport. Despite making a significant splash in his first 25 Premier League games with nine goals, his subsequent performances were somewhat underwhelming.

As AC Milan continues to strengthen its frontline, the prospect of playing Champions League football next season with the Rossoneri is an attractive proposition for the U.S. star. This move could be a turning point in Pulisic's career, presenting an opportunity to prove himself on a different stage, and most importantly, a chance to revitalize his form.
