Could the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, be eyeing a seat in politics? Paul Burrell, the former butler to Princess Diana and self-proclaimed royal expert, seems to think so. He claims that Markle, 41, harbors potential to run for California's gubernatorial office. The Los Angeles native, now residing in Montecito, California, should not be underestimated, according to Burrell. Drawing parallels to Hollywood stars Arnold Schwarzenegger and Ronald Reagan, who successfully transitioned into political careers, Burrell believes Meghan and Prince Harry could be "a power couple."
Burrell stated, "What if she became Governor of California and lords it over Hollywood, her backyard is Hollywood." He added, "It's not so far-fetched... the Sussex brand will disappear," if they don't keep reinventing themselves.
However, Meghan Markle's professional trajectory might be veering away from the shared path with her husband, Prince Harry. Despite the anticipation of shared royal duties following their 2018 wedding, and the collaborative ventures under Archewell, reports suggest that the Duchess is contemplating a solo professional career. After inking a deal with the prestigious talent agency William Morris Endeavor (WME), where Harry did not, it appears that Meghan may be stepping into the limelight as a "one-woman show."
After the collapse of the couple's $20 million Spotify deal last month, insiders suggest that Meghan needs to distance herself from the 'Brand Sussex.' According to sources, "They feel that if Meghan does more on her own, she'll have more opportunities to save her career."
While offers for solo projects are allegedly flooding in for Meghan, Harry, too, has his independent projects in the pipeline. He's working on his Netflix documentary, Heart of Invictus, a solo documentary about Africa, and his successful memoir, Spare.
Ari Emanuel, the lead agent on Meghan's team at WME, is reportedly advising her to rebrand professionally as her own entity. Potential projects include a relaunch of her blog "The Tig," a personal memoir, and a lucrative influencer career. However, the Duchess doesn't seem keen to return to acting but would rather focus on content creation and production.
Amid all these changes, whispers of Harry possibly tiring of his wife's Hollywood lifestyle have surfaced. Alison Boshoff for the Daily Mail raised a question: "The big question is how long before Harry turns his back on the showbusiness life...?" But for now, these remain mere speculations as the Sussexes continue to evolve their individual and collective roles.
