The group NewJeans (Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin, Hyein) has won the 'Top Global K-Pop Artist' award at the '2023 Billboard Music Awards' (BBMAs). The ceremony was held on November 20th at 10 AM (KST) at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, USA.
At the '2023 Billboard Music Awards' ('2023 BBMAs'), NewJeans was honored with the 'Top Global K-Pop Artist' award. Minji expressed her gratitude, saying, "Thank you for this award. It is an honor just to be nominated alongside such great artists. Once again, we promise to repay all the love and support we've received from our fans."
Danielle added, "Above all, we would like to thank our company, our families, and especially PD Min Hee-jin for supporting us. We will always remember standing in front of this camera."
Hyein also expressed her appreciation for her fellow members, stating, "I am grateful to the members. We always encourage and trust each other. The friendship of NewJeans will never break."
Furthermore, NewJeans stated, "We hope to bring as much happiness as we have received from everyone. We will strive to be artists who create music that everyone can enjoy. We thank the Billboard Music Awards once again and wish everyone a joyful life."
Besides winning the award, NewJeans also performed as 'BBMAs' performers, showcasing 'Super Shy' and 'OMG.' Both songs had entered the 'Hot 100' on this year's Billboard main chart. Their performance at the 'BBMAs' drew significant attention as it was the first time a K-pop girl group performed at the ceremony.
In addition to 'Top Global K-Pop Artist,' NewJeans was also nominated in four categories, including 'Top Billboard Global (Excl. U.S.) Artist,' 'Top Global K-pop Song,' and 'Top K-pop Album' (including multiple nominations in the 'Top Global K-Pop Song' category).
