The Shining Awards stated, "'The King of Kpop' title is awarded to the most popular and talented male K-pop idol or the most renowned and exceptional male K-pop artist. In the vibrant world of K-pop, overflowing with skill and charisma, Jimin emerged as a symbol of excellence. In 2023, he not only captured the hearts of fans but also set a new standard in musical brilliance and stage presence, which led to his selection as the top-ranking male idol."

Furthermore, as a gesture of gratitude to the fans who participated in the voting for Jimin, the winner of Shining Awards' 'King Of Kpop 2023,' a donation was made to a needy organization, adding a heartwarming significance to the award.

Having been crowned 'King of Kpop' by Shining Awards for two consecutive years, Jimin had previously clinched the title of 'King Of Kpop 2023' from King Choice for five years in a row since 2019. He also won the 'Kpop Idol of the Year 2023' in Debeme's poll, reaffirming his status as the most popular artist in K-pop.

Listed as the 'King Of Kpop' on the Urban Dictionary, a dictionary site in the English-speaking world, since 2019, Jimin has also made 2023 his year, sweeping various charts, including the first-ever Billboard Hot 100 entry by a Korean solo artist, with his debut solo album 'Face.' This success has further heightened the anticipation for his post-military hiatus activities.
