Country music star Maren Morris and her ex-husband, Ryan Hurd, have reached a swift resolution in their divorce proceedings, finalizing their settlement just three months post-filing. Court records indicate that the former couple has agreed upon a Marital Dissolution Agreement and Parenting Plan for their 3-year-old son, Hayes Andrew Hurd. The documents, filed in Tennessee Court, also include a child support worksheet.
The "My Church" singer initially filed for divorce on October 2, 2023, citing "irreconcilable differences" and asserting that no hope remained for reconciliation. Key to the smooth proceedings was a prenuptial agreement the duo signed before tying the knot on March 24, 2018. Morris, in her petition, sought the enforcement of this prenuptial agreement while requesting child support be set according to state guidelines.
Despite the emotional turmoil, Morris and Hurd have agreed to share joint custody of their son. Morris expressed her desire to expedite the divorce process, completing her court-mandated parenting class swiftly after serving Hurd with the legal papers. Hurd reciprocated by finishing his parenting class weeks later and opting not to file an official response to the divorce petition. Instead, the couple worked collaboratively to craft a settlement that addresses both custody and child support.
The settlement comes shortly after the required 90-day waiting period for divorcing parties with children in Tennessee, signifying a relatively quick resolution for the couple.
In a poignant reflection months before the divorce, Morris credited Hurd for his support during her struggles with postpartum depression. "I wouldn't have made it through with my head this high without him," she stated in an interview with People.
As for Morris's personal life post-divorce, she's not in a rush to reenter the dating scene. In a recent appearance on Howard Stern's Sirius XM show, the 33-year-old singer shared her current focus on songwriting as a form of expression and healing. "I don't have the headspace for that yet," Morris remarked, indicating her desire for closure and personal growth amidst this significant life change.
While the couple has maintained a degree of privacy regarding their split, subtle social media posts from Morris have hinted at her emotional journey. Now, with the divorce finalized, both Morris and Hurd appear poised to move forward, co-parenting their son and navigating their new paths separately.
