Pop star Ariana Grande's divorce from ex-husband Dalton Gomez has been finalized, with the settlement agreement taking effect on Tuesday, six months after the initial divorce filing. The 30-year-old singer, who has an estimated net worth of $240 million, will make a one-time payment of $1.25 million to her real estate broker ex-husband, with no future alimony, according to court documents.
Under the terms of the settlement, which was filed with the court in October but only became effective this week due to California law, Grande will also give Gomez half of the proceeds from the sale of their Los Angeles home and pay up to $25,000 toward his attorneys' fees. The couple, who began their relationship in early 2020 and married in a small ceremony at Grande's Montecito home in 2021, had signed a prenuptial agreement, which helped facilitate a speedy and amicable legal separation.
"They came to the decision together," an insider told Page Six in July 2023, when the couple's split was first confirmed. "They were having problems before January, but they want to remain best friends."
Shortly after filing for divorce in September 2023, rumors emerged that Grande had moved on with her "Wicked" co-star, Ethan Slater. The 31-year-old actor, known for his starring role in "SpongeBob SquarePants: The Broadway Musical," filed for divorce from his wife, Lilly Jay, soon after. Jay, who shares a 1-year-old son with Slater, criticized Grande, telling Page Six exclusively that her family was "collateral damage" and that the singer is "not a girl's girl."
However, a source close to the situation insisted that Grande and Slater "didn't do anything wrong." The couple has since been spotted together, with Grande attending Slater's premiere of Broadway's "Spamalot" at the St. James Theatre in New York City on Nov. 15. "They love to support each other in their work," a source told People magazine. "When she's done with work, Ariana loves going to the theater when she can."
The insider added that Grande and Slater have become "serious" in their romance, describing their relationship as "very normal" and noting that they "mostly enjoy staying in."
As for Gomez, the 28-year-old luxury real estate broker has also started dating again. He was recently photographed making out with actress Maika Monroe while vacationing in Mexico.
Grande, who previously dated Pete Davidson, Mac Miller, and Big Sean, released her seventh studio album, "Eternal Sunshine," on March 8, which was inspired by her divorce from Gomez. Fans have speculated about the meaning behind some of the songs, including "The Boy Is Mine," which some believe is about Slater.
In response to the speculation, Grande took to Instagram to ask fans not to send hate to people in her life based on their interpretation of the album. "I just wanted to say anyone that is sending hateful messages to the people in my life based on your interpretation of this album is not supporting me and is absolutely doing the polar opposite of what I would ever encourage," she wrote. "I ask that you please do not. It is not how to support me. It is the opposite."
Grande emphasized that while the album captures many painful moments, it is also "woven together with a through (sic) line of deep, sincere love." She urged fans to listen more closely if they could not hear that message.
