Comedian Kathy Griffin has hit a roadblock in her divorce proceedings with estranged husband Randy Bick, as she has been unable to locate him to serve the divorce papers. According to court documents, Griffin kicked Bick out of her Los Angeles mansion following their split in December 2023, but he has since been out of contact and his whereabouts remain unknown.
Griffin, 63, filed for divorce from Bick, 46, just days before their fourth wedding anniversary, listing the date of separation as December 22, 2023, and citing "irreconcilable differences" as the cause of the split. The court documents also revealed that the couple had signed a prenuptial agreement on December 23, 2019, nine days before tying the knot in a surprise New Year's Day ceremony.
In an effort to move forward with the divorce proceedings, Griffin has taken the unusual step of hiring a private investigator to track down her missing husband. "Randy didn't just lose his wife, he lost his job when Kathy filed for divorce," a source told The National Enquirer. "He is devastated, alone and unemployed. She was his entire world."
Despite the private investigator's efforts, Bick remains elusive. "Respondent left the former family residence at Petitioner's request and has not been in contact with her or told Petitioner where he is residing or staying," the court documents state. Griffin has vowed to make further attempts to locate Bick and will now take steps to enter his default if he remains unresponsive.
The comedian's dissolution filing also requested that both parties have their right to spousal support terminated by the court, and demanded that the terms of their premarital agreement be enforced in the divorce. Griffin took to Twitter shortly after news of the divorce broke, writing, "Well...s---. This sucks."
While Bick has kept a low profile since the split and has not spoken publicly about the situation, he has been actively posting on X (formerly Twitter) as recently as Tuesday. However, he has responded to request for comment on the matter, according to Page Six.
Sources close to the couple have expressed sympathy for Bick's situation, with one telling The National Enquirer, "Randy didn't just lose his wife, he lost his job when Kathy filed for divorce. He is devastated, alone and unemployed. She was his entire world."
Griffin and Bick began dating in 2011 and exchanged vows in a private ceremony officiated by the comedian's close friend, actress Lily Tomlin, on January 1, 2020. At the time, Griffin told People magazine, "Randy and I are doing sort of toy rings for the ceremony because neither one of us like wearing rings ever. So we will never wear rings. Deal with it."
As the divorce saga continues to unfold, Griffin has sought comfort from her longtime friend, actress Jane Fonda. In a tweet, Griffin shared a conversation between the two, writing, "Me: Fonda, it's Griffin. My heart is broken. I can't eat. I can't sleep. @Janefonda: Come on over kid. I'll feed you and I'll listen to you."
The comedian's struggle to serve her estranged husband with divorce papers highlights the complex and often emotionally charged nature of high-profile divorces. As Griffin continues her search for Bick, the public will undoubtedly be watching closely to see how this unusual case is resolved.
