Princess Kate has emerged as the UK's most popular royal, surpassing her husband, Prince William, according to a recent YouGov poll conducted between April 2-3. The survey, which sampled 2,004 adults from Great Britain, found that 76% of respondents hold a positive view of the Princess of Wales, marking a six-point increase since the beginning of the year.

The rise in Kate's popularity follows her emotional cancer announcement video, released on March 22, where she spoke of the "huge shock" her diagnosis was for her and her family. The princess is currently undergoing preventative chemotherapy as part of her recovery process. In contrast, Prince William's approval rating fell to 73%, with 21% of respondents holding a negative view of him, compared to Kate's 15%.

"Today I received this beautiful acknowledgement and I can honestly say I shall treasure this my entire life," wrote X user Allexmarie, who shared a photo of the thank you card she received from Kensington Palace after sending a get-well card to Kate. The card read, "Thank you for your kind well wishes to Her Royal Highness The Princess of Wales. Your thoughtful gesture is very much appreciated."

Surprisingly, Princess Anne ranks third in popularity among the royals, with a 71% positive rating and only 13% of respondents holding a negative view of her. King Charles' rating has remained steady at 63% favorable, compared to 30% who view him unfavorably.

The least popular member of the royal family is Prince Andrew, with a mere 6% positive rating and an 86% unfavorable opinion. The Duke of York is followed by Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, and Prince Harry, with 26% and 31% positive ratings, respectively. However, younger Britons, who generally have a more negative view of the Royal Family, are more positive about Harry and Meghan, while older respondents are most critical of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and most favorable toward the Prince and Princess of Wales.

Regarding the favorability of the monarchy as an institution, 58% of Britons held a positive view, but this varied significantly by age group. Respondents over 65 held a 79% favorable rating, while only 32% of people between 18 to 24 years old were positive.

As Kate continues her cancer treatment, it is understood that she may attend events as and when she feels able to, in line with medical advice, although this will not indicate a return to full-time duties. Prince William will continue to balance supporting his wife and family while maintaining his official duties, as he has done since her operation.

The YouGov poll's findings highlight the shifting dynamics of popularity within the Royal Family, with Princess Kate emerging as the most beloved member amid her ongoing health challenges. The public's support for the princess during this difficult time is evident, as well-wishers from around the globe send heartfelt messages and cards to Kensington Palace.

The survey also underscores the generational divide in attitudes toward the monarchy, with younger Britons holding more critical views of the institution compared to their older counterparts. As the Royal Family navigates these changing perceptions, the focus remains on supporting Princess Kate through her cancer battle and ensuring the continuity of their public duties.
