In a recent episode of the "New Heights with Jason and Travis Kelce" podcast, Travis Kelce, the star tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs, opened up about his high-profile relationship with pop superstar Taylor Swift. Speaking with his brother Jason and guest rapper Lil Dicky, Travis, 34, confessed that he's still unsure how he managed to start dating the 34-year-old singer, given her apparent lack of interest in sports.
"I don't know how I did it because she wasn't into sports, so I don't know how the f--- I did it," Travis said with a laugh, before adding, "No, I know exactly how I did it." The revelation came after Lil Dicky called the couple's romance "the best thing ever," noting that it makes everyone feel like they're back in high school, where the most popular pop star and beloved athlete fell in love.
Travis went on to express his joy about the relationship, stating, "It's fun. I'm just having a blast in life, baby, just flying high, enjoying it all. Bringing new lives to the football world and opening up the football world up to new things." His brother Jason, 36, also mentioned that the podcast now has "a lot of new fans called Swifties," referring to Swift's dedicated fan base.
The couple first sparked dating rumors in September 2023 when Swift attended several of Kelce's games. During an appearance on "The Pat McAfee Show" podcast that same month, Travis revealed that he had invited Swift to attend one of his games and "threw the ball in her court" after seeing her perform at Arrowhead Stadium during her Eras Tour in July 2023.
Lil Dicky, whose real name is David Burd, praised the couple's relationship, saying, "Honestly, my take on it, not that you want to spend time talking about it for the five thousandth time, but I just think there is something that makes everyone feel like the world is kind of like high school, where the most popular popstar and beloved musician somehow met the most popular beloved athlete and they actually fell in love and it's just real. Anyone who hates on it is a bitter loser, but I think a lot of people who you would maybe expect to hate on it, love it, and they acknowledge they love it because it's just so - there is something so American about it ... There is something classic about it."
Travis and Swift confirmed their romance in October 2023 when they were spotted holding hands at a Saturday Night Live afterparty in New York City. Since then, the Chiefs star has been supporting his girlfriend on numerous dates of her worldwide Eras Tour, most recently traveling to Singapore last month when Swift played six shows at the Kallang Stadium.
The Kelce brothers also mentioned that Travis had to move to a different home in Kansas City due to security reasons following the public announcement of his relationship with Swift. Despite the increased attention and necessary lifestyle changes, Travis remains in awe of his love story with the billionaire songstress and is loving every second of it.
