The death of beloved "Friends" star Matthew Perry continues to unfold under intense scrutiny, as investigators have now questioned Brooke Mueller, the ex-wife of actor Charlie Sheen, in connection with the case. The late actor's tragic passing on October 28, 2023, has prompted a detailed investigation by the Los Angeles Police Department, which has brought unexpected connections and revelations to light.

Sources informed InTouch Weekly that Mueller, 46, has been questioned multiple times regarding Perry's death. Mueller, who is currently residing in a sober living facility, was not present when officers arrived with a search warrant last month. "She was out exercising at the time but was completely cooperative when she returned," a source disclosed, adding, "She's hired lawyers and has had multiple meetings with law enforcement since they arrived at her sober living house with a search warrant. She's being tight-lipped about the situation."

While the exact nature of Mueller's connection to Perry remains unclear, it is known that they met in rehab and formed an "unexpected friendship." Authorities seized an iPhone and a laptop from Mueller, hoping to uncover more about her role in the circumstances surrounding Perry's death.

Perry, known for his iconic role as Chandler Bing on the hit sitcom "Friends," was found unresponsive in his hot tub at his Pacific Palisades home. His death was initially attributed to an apparent drowning. However, further investigation revealed that ketamine played a significant role. The autopsy reported "acute effects of ketamine" and noted other contributing factors, including coronary artery disease and the effects of buprenorphine, a medication used to treat opioid addiction.

The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner's Office detailed that trace amounts of ketamine were found in Perry's stomach contents. Although Perry had received ketamine infusion therapy for depression and anxiety, the medical examiner noted that the ketamine in his system at the time of death could not have been from his last treatment, which was more than a week prior. "The exact method of intake in Mr. Perry's case is unknown," the report stated.

In an email last month, Los Angeles Police Capt. Scot Williams mentioned that the department was collaborating with the DEA and the U.S. Postal Inspection Service to trace how Perry obtained the ketamine. This line of inquiry has led investigators to several individuals potentially linked to the actor's acquisition of the drug.

Dr. Angelique Campen, an emergency room physician familiar with ketamine's use, emphasized the importance of medical supervision when using the drug. "It needs to be used under doctor supervision," Dr. Campen told KCAL. "It has to be with a cardiac monitor and oxygen monitor and under the care and supervision of a doctor."

Brooke Mueller's involvement has added a layer of complexity to the investigation. Her past relationship with Charlie Sheen and her struggles with substance abuse have kept her in the public eye. Mueller and Sheen were married for three years before their divorce in 2011. Recently, a judge granted Sheen full custody of their twin sons should Mueller fail a drug or alcohol test, although the twins primarily live with Sheen.

The case has garnered significant media attention, with many speculating about the potential for criminal charges. New reports suggest that investigators are close to determining the source of the ketamine found in Perry's system, which could lead to charges against those involved in its procurement.

The Los Angeles Police Department has confirmed that the investigation is ongoing. "The department has an open and ongoing investigation into Matthew Perry's death," authorities said. The U.S. Attorney's Office, however, has declined to comment on the status of the investigation.

As the investigation continues, Perry's fans and the public remain eager for answers. The involvement of figures like Mueller underscores the broader issues of substance abuse and mental health challenges faced by many in Hollywood. Perry, who openly struggled with addiction throughout his life, had hoped to turn his personal battles into a source of support for others, as evidenced by his advocacy for addiction recovery.
