Matthew Perry’s heartbroken co-stars on the legendary television program "Friends" are keen to keep his legacy alive when commemorating the show's 30th anniversary this year. However, according to sources, the ongoing criminal investigation into his murder has placed a dark veil over their preparations.

The surviving cast members of the hit show, including Jennifer Aniston, who is 55 years old, Lisa Kudrow, who is 60 years old, Courteney Cox, who is 60 years old, David Schwimmer, who is 57 years old, and Matt LeBlanc, who is 56 years old, are having a difficult time figuring out how to celebrate the anniversary of the show without the scandalous details of Matthew's final days and death overshadowing the celebration.

According to Globe Magazine, the television comedian was discovered dead in a hot tub at his house in Pacific Palisades on October 28 of the previous year. The cause of death was determined to be the potent anesthetic ketamine, which drug addicts refer to as Special K.

Currently, law enforcement officials are conducting an investigation to determine the source of the fatal amount that he received, as per USA Today. According to reports, they are investigating "key" persons in the entertainment industry who are known to be drug abusers.

“This investigation has everyone talking about Matthew again. It’s been tough for everyone who loved him. The idea of celebrating this anniversary without him is beyond painful, especially because there will inevitably be questions about his death with this whole new investigation to find his drug connection,” an unnamed source told the entertainment news outlet.

Beginning in September 1994 and continuing until May 2004, “Friends” was shown on NBC for a total of 10 seasons, during which time it became one of the most iconic shows of its age. “Matthew was so proud and really hyped up about doing something big for the anniversary. He had so many ideas for it, so to now go ahead without him is almost too painful for words,” the insider stated.

For a long-awaited reunion, the group got together in 2021, and according to an informant, there was a lot of talk about bringing the entire cast back together for a television special. However, the preparations were scrapped when Matthew passed away at the age of 54, after a twenty-year struggle with addiction to both alcohol and opioids on his part.

“His death is still a huge wound for them all, and it’s nowhere near healed. They aren’t going to do another roundtable reunion event, not without Matthew there, but they still feel it’s important to mark the anniversary somehow. Of course, they’re very aware of the investigation and wanting answers about what really happened. They’re in talks to figure out something that feels right. But they’re steadfast in the view that they need to stick together and focus on the positive aspects of Matthew’s life as well as keeping the franchise going for many generations to come,” the mole furthered.
