A fund-raising event for Thomas, Meghan Markle's estranged father, is bringing in a significant amount of money.

It has been revealed by RadarOnline that a GoFundMe campaign that was initiated by the British socialite Lady Colin Campbell in order to assist the "abandoned" father in paying his medical expenses and other essentials has now raised more than $50,000.

"[Thomas Markle] has been exceedingly generous with his time and money over the years, as I have learnt from the teachers at his daughter's school, who could not sing his praises highly enough,” Lady Campbell wrote in summary for the fundraiser.

"His kindness and generosity are well known in the film community, and I agree that now that he has been rejected and abandoned by the daughter, those of us who wish to show him solidarity and give him the acknowledgement he should be getting from the actual recipient of his largesse, will hopefully, through our contributions, no matter how small, demonstrate to him that there are still people in the world with good hearts, good values, and good intentions,” it went on.

Following that, the royal author referred to herself as a "well-wisher" and expressed her hope that the gifts would enable Thomas, who is 80 years old, to enjoy the "comfort he deserves" as his health continues to deteriorate.

As previously revealed, Thomas and Meghan have been distancing themselves from one another ever since the time when she tied the knot with Prince Harry in 2018. In addition, the former lighting designer has not been able to cultivate a relationship with his two grandkids, Archie and Lilibet, as a result of this circumstance.

At the beginning of this year, Thomas admitted that he wished he could revive a relationship with Meghan, but he did not have high hopes that it would ever happen.

"I know the one person I most want to hear from, Meghan, won’t be in touch. I would love to meet my grandchildren, but I would be happy with a photograph at this stage,” Thomas told The Daily Mail.

In addition, Thomas criticized the royal runaways, who emigrated from the United Kingdom to the United States in the year 2020, for not providing their children with the opportunity to interact with members of their royal family.

"It struck me as very sad that Meghan and Harry’s kids are being denied the right to know their cousins, who look like fantastic children, or take part in things like Trooping the Colour, which is their birthright,” Thomas stated in July.

“They are getting to the age where they will start to ask questions, as all kids do. I find myself wondering how Archie and Lilbet will feel in a few years’ time when they realize all the things they have missed out on,” he went on.
