Ahead of filing for divorce, Jennifer Lopez was "holding out hope" that she and her husband, Ben Affleck, could find a way to resolve their differences and reconcile, a new report claimed.

“This has been a long time coming. Jen and Ben have been separated since March when the marriage began to really fall apart and Ben asked for space,” an unnamed source told Life & Style Magazine.

The anonymous insider claimed that "ultimately the marriage was not fixable," despite the fact that Jennifer, who is 55 years old, had believed that the "space would help" her and Ben, who is 52 years old, reconcile their marital tensions.

“Ben had no intention of working on things and the more time they spent apart the more clear it became to him that this marriage was a mistake,” the same informant told the entertainment news outlet.

In May, In Touch Weekly published an article stating that Jennifer and Ben were "on the verge of a divorce" and that Ben had already moved out of the home that they shared. This led to the spread of rumors regarding their problems. Early in the month of July, they put their home in Beverly Hills, which they shared, up for sale. Later that same month, “Gone Girl” actor purchased a new property in Brentwood, California, for the price of $20 million.

As the couple, who had tied the knot in 2022, continued to spend the summer apart and abandon their wedding bands on a number of public occasions, Ben and Jennifer continued to fuel speculations that they were no longer together.

However, it was not until Jennifer filed for divorce on Tuesday, August 20, after they had been married for two years that it was confirmed that they had ended their marriage. The paperwork was submitted by her on the anniversary of their second wedding, which took place at Ben's mansion in Georgia for the second time.

According to the filing, the singer of "On the Floor" said that the date of their separation was April 26, 2024 respectively. No attorney was present when Jennifer submitted the form, and she did not disclose whether or not she and Ben had agreed to a prenuptial agreement.

On August 14, an additional insider disclosed to Life & Style in an exclusive interview that Ben and Jennifer were "only [talking] through lawyers" prior to the filing of the divorce petition.

“Jennifer thinks Ben’s being an insensitive brat and wants him to man up, quit the brutal mind games and treat her with more respect. She’s not going to take being treated so poorly anymore. J. Lo’s ready to fight — this means war,” the tipster claimed.

Jennifer had been spotted appearing to be in a good mood on a number of trips that took place in the Hamptons in the weeks preceding up to the filing of the divorce petition.

“J. Lo feels she’s kept her side of the street clean with the way she’s handled this situation. She found it very difficult to accept in the beginning, but when Ben requested space, she gave it to him with zero trash talking or game playing,” a mole previously shared.

According to the spy, Ben also "seemed to share J. Lo's view that they needed to put on a united front while being respectful toward each other, even from afar." While this was going on, a third source said in an earlier interview with Life & Style Magazine that Jennifer was determined to better her physical health in the wake of their breakup.

“J. Lo’s convinced that the best revenge is looking good, so she’s thrown herself into a total body makeover, to the detriment of pretty much every other part of her life,” the tattler stated.

As soon as the naysayer made the observation that Jennifer was attending daily sessions with her personal trainer that lasted for two hours, it was claimed that the “Papi” songstress could not take the idea that people believe she is sitting at home by herself and sobbing over Ben. “So even though the last thing she wants to do is put on a smile for the cameras, she forces herself to do it,” it furthered.
