Tom Cruise is working himself into the ground with punishing 16-hour work days that put him at risk of catastrophic burnout. Despite the fact that he loves to portray himself as Mr. Sociable these days, a rock-solid source in his business team has exclusively revealed that he has very few, if any, actual real friends.
“Let’s be real here, Tom lives for the business of being a global movie star, and it’s not exactly ‘work’ for him because he goes at it like a 24/7 lifestyle choice,” an unnamed source, who has had extensive recent work experience directly with Tom, 62, told In Touch Weekly.
Tom has been working almost nonstop ever since he began his acting career in Hollywood in the early 1980s, when he became known for his small roles. He first came to public attention in 1983, when he was a member of the ensemble cast of "The Outsiders." In the same year, he also created a name for himself in the films "All the Right Moves" and "Risky Business."
Already a well-known figure by the year 1996, the mega star was cast in the first installment of the "Mission: Impossible" franchise. Since then, he has gone on to star in six other installments of the franchise over the course of the past three decades. In the present moment, Tom, who is a workaholic, is filming "Mission: Impossible 8."
“He literally has no friends who can keep pace with him, and that’s all been exacerbated this summer as he finally puts 'Mission: Impossible 8' to bed and can move onto other projects,” the anonymous insider told the entertainment news outlet.
“He only socializes with the moguls and other A-listers to further his movie ambitions, and it’s pretty clear when you spend any stretch of time with him that he’s a lonely guy and would rather be off shooting a mega stunt than pretending he likes his downtime,” undisclosed informant went on.
The work ethic of the actor who starred in "Top Gun" is remarkable, as he has been in more than fifty films since he first began his career. As of right now, the tipster stated that there is no indication that Tom is slowing down, much less that the mega-famous actor is considering retiring in the near future.
“He never even takes vacations without pasting on some kind of work function to it, like a location scout or just a box full of scripts to read and movies to watch. You want to tell the guy, ‘get a life!’ but with a person as strong willed as Tom, that would never work,” the mole shared.
A number of injuries have been sustained by Tom over his career as an action actor, as per Movie Web. These injuries include fractured ribs, a broken ankle, and a near-decapitation from mechanical horses while he was filming "The Last Samurai."
Those who are closest to the celebrity are concerned about his safety as he gets older; nevertheless, he has not been affected by this concern as of yet.
“He will slow down and act normal only as a last resort and only when he’s a very old man, that’s my prediction. He loves his lifestyle but he’s becoming a one man band at this point and he keeps saying that he lives for the grind of working – as long as he can be in charge!” the tattler stated.
