Several months ago, Meryl Streep and Martin Short were the ones who initially generated suspicions that they were dating.
They play love interests on film, and Meryl and Martin certainly looked the part off-screen as they gently held hands at the premiere of season 4 of Hulu's Only Murders in the Building in Hollywood on August 24. The premiere was place in Hollywood.
“I think it’s been a friendship that always grows if you work with someone and love that person,” Martin, 74, gushed about his costar at the event.
Rumors about their late-life romance have been circulating for some months, with a representative for the Oscar winner, who is 75 years old, stating on two separate occasions that the two are "just friends."
However, Star Magazine was informed by a source who wished to remain anonymous that the two of them are, in fact, romantically involved and that their public display of affection during the premiere was merely a covert indication of their relationship.
“They knew exactly what they were doing by coming out on stage holding hands. It was their way of basically telling everyone that there’s a lot more to their relationship, and that they’re falling in love,” the anonymous insider stated.
Both of them had survived the dissolution of an extended marriage. Martin's wife of thirty years passed away from cancer in the year 2010, while in the year 2023, it was disclosed that Meryl and her husband of forty years had been going through a separation for a period of six years.
Meryl and Martin are longtime friends. “They’re comfortable and natural together. No one expected this, least of all them, but something just sparked between them when they worked together,” the undisclosed informant.
The couple's relationship is unaffected by the fact that their children have grown up; Meryl has four children, and Martin has three. “Everyone is so happy for them and just delighted to see them smiling. They’re such a great couple,” the tipster stated.
Most, if not all, are aware that, on the show "Only Murders in the Building," Meryl and Martin play the roles of lovers. The pair have been unlikely fixtures of tabloid speculations and gossip blogs ever since the bombshell that Meryl and her husband of 45 years, Don Gummer, discreetly split up six years ago was released in October. Meryl and Don Gummer had been married for 45 years.
All of a sudden, the energy that was normally reserved for chronicling the amorous exploits of Taylor Swift or Jennifer Aniston was transferred to the veterans of the profession, which was certainly a change of pace. Photos of them "canoodling" on set—that is, literally simply hanging out and talking in close proximity to one another—or going out together for dinner after the shooting was presented as evidence of a developing connection between the two of them.
At the launch of the fourth season of "Only Murders,” they posed together and held hands, which stoked the flames of their growing relationship.
The concept that these two are in a relationship appears to be a topic of intense interest on social media. When the entire crew was buzzing about them, a recent edit meeting for The Daily Beast was derailed for a longer period of time than any of us would care to acknowledge about ourselves.
It is incredible that Meryl Streep and Martin Short are the couple in Hollywood that is receiving the most attention at the moment concerning their relationship.
There is no evidence that Meryl and Martin are romantically involved. Although they were called a "power couple" in an interview with Bill Maher, the representative for the veteran actress stated in a statement that they are simply good friends. Martin also stated the same thing.
