Lizzo, the Grammy-winning artist, gained notoriety for her body positivity messages, which rendered her a heroine. However, the plus-size warbler is currently singing a different melody.
The songstress, 36, has significantly reduced her weight and recently exhibited her slimmer figure in a one-piece bathing suit during a voyage to Bali.
In March, Melissa Jefferson, the singer of Truth Hurts, disclosed that she was weary of "consistently being the brunt of the joke due to my appearance."
Lizzo, who was previously openly boastful of her obesity, has lost over 60 pounds from her 5-foot-10 frame, according to a music industry source. She was previously weighed in at 308 pounds, but she is now reported to be a relatively trim 240 pounds.
It appears that she has undergone a transformation in her attitude since she fully embraced her size. Lizzo was seen dancing in a brown bodysuit and stockings in January 2022, boasting about her appearance and weight gain.
She has maintained a consistent message that individuals should not be ashamed of their bodies, including "girls with back fat, girls with bellies that hang, girls with thighs that are not separated, that overlap … you know, girls who are in the 18-plus club!"
However, she has begun employing phrases such as "body neutrality" after losing weight.
“I’m taking the time every day to put some love into my body. There is never a day when I regret taking a walk or doing some Pilates,” Lizzo told The New York Times in March.
Last year, Lizzo was attacked by her own support dancers, who accused her of being a hypocrite for bullying, harassing, and even fat-shaming them. Lizzo has refuted the accusations.
She withdrew from the public eye for a year and now asserts, "I have been methodical in my weight loss, which has been very gradual."
Additionally, she is promoting a new swimsuit collection for her body-shaping line, Yitty.
“There are a lot of contradictions going on here!” an unnamed source told The National Enquirer.
Since August 25, the Detroit, Michigan, resident has been enjoying an extended vacation in Bali. Lizzo has shared a plethora of Instagram photos and videos featuring her in revealing one-pieces and minuscule bikinis since she arrived on the South Pacific island. She has even exhibited the latest Yitty sports bra and legging combinations from her balcony in the jungle.
