Six years ago, Selena Gomez was at her lowest point, experiencing profound despair. However, the resilient young singer has since rebounded and is currently dominating the globe.
Following a painful breakup with her first love, superstar Justin Bieber, and a catastrophic struggle with systemic lupus that necessitated a lifesaving kidney transplant, the 32-year-old actress-singer plummeted into darkness in 2018.
“It was a terrible year for Selena. She had just gone through a painful breakup with Justin and following the surgery, she gained weight due to prescribed medications, and became the target of fat-shamers. Selena was overwhelmed with everything going on in her life. So, she put her career on hold, and took a break from social media and public appearances,” an unnamed source told GLOBE Magazine.
Selena has achieved success in both her professional and commercial endeavors, and she is currently in the process of organizing a wedding with her one-year-old fiancé, record producer Benny Blanco, half a dozen years later.
“She is also about to release a new album, her first in three years, and her cosmetics company, Rare Beauty, just announced it’s worth $2 billion — making her one of the richest women in Hollywood, beating out Kim Kardashian, Jessica Alba and Kylie Jenner!” the anonymous insider told the entertainment news outlet.
Selena has also experienced significant growth in her acting career.
“Right now, Selena’s first love is acting. She’d rather act than sing. She drew rave reviews for her role in the TV series Only Murders in the Building and she’s currently in talks with Disney to reprise her role in a Wizards of Waverly Place sequel. I’ve never seen her so happy and content, and no one deserves it more than she does!” the undisclosed informant stated.
Meanwhile, the popular podcast of the primary characters is being adapted into a film in the upcoming season of “Only Murders in the Building.” In reality, Selena, the main actress, is establishing her own, considerably larger, empire.
The 32-year-old achieved prominence as a child on the Disney Channel, embarked on a music career, established her own beauty brand, and is currently featured on the Emmy-nominated Hulu series. In the process, Selena has amassed a fortune that has resulted in her becoming one of the earliest female self-made billionaires in the country.
The Bloomberg Billionaires Index, which is ranking her for the first time, estimates that Selena is worth $1.3 billion. In contrast to her close friend Taylor Swift, who has achieved billionaire status primarily through her music and touring, the actress, performer, and entrepreneur has amassed wealth through a combination of businesses that capitalize on her talent and hundreds of millions of social media followers.
“Selena is not just a pop star. She’s a multifaceted businesswoman with diverse income streams contributing to her impressive net worth,” Stacy Jones, founder and chief executive officer of Hollywood Branded, a Los Angeles-based branding agency, stated.
Selena's wealth is primarily derived from Rare Beauty Brands Inc., a makeup line she established five years ago that has gained popularity among cosmetics-obsessed teenagers and influencers. However, she also has brand partnerships, acting deals, and a mental-health startup, which should assure the longevity of her wealth if she ever decides to withdraw from the public eye.
