Johnny Depp's decision to upgrade his dentition was not motivated by vanity.
An unnamed source stated that the actor "had no choice" to acquire a new set of teeth due to the fact that his previous teeth were "rotten to the bone."
"And his breath reeked," the anonymous insider added. "It was either veneers or risk some serious health problems, like infection and maybe even heart disease."
The 61-year-old's new appearance, which he debuted in The Bahamas over the summer, was met with acclaim from fans.
According to the source, his previous teeth were a "result of all those years of letting himself go."
"Now he’s done the dental work, and he can smile with confidence. His choppers gleam," the undisclosed informant told In Touch Weekly.
The insider also mentioned that the Edward Scissorhands protagonist recently became "hyper aware of how certain parts of his body are falling apart and now he’s mapping out a health plan."
"He wants to build up muscle too and maybe some nip/tucks and why not? He’s finally going to do something about that pot belly, not to mention investing in some beauty rituals to polish his skin and hair and general appearance," it added.

Heard relocated there in order to escape the blowback she experienced following their legal dispute.
Ultimately, Depp prevailed in his defamation lawsuit against her, which was initiated in response to her allegations of physical and sexual abuse, The Independent reported.
