Jonathan Majors and Meagan Good have announced their engagement, a heartwarming development that comes as the couple celebrated the EBONY Power 100 Gala, the very event where they first met two years ago. Majors, 35, and Good, 43, shared their news on Sunday, November 17, at NYA Studios West in Los Angeles, with Good proudly displaying her engagement ring as they spoke about their joy.

"We're feeling great," Good told PEOPLE, beaming while showing off her sparkling ring. Majors, standing beside her, added, "It's a season of joy." The couple emphasized their happiness and gratitude for the moment, with Good continuing, "It's a season of all the good things," and Majors responding with a heartfelt, "Amen."

The announcement holds special significance for the couple, who chose to share their engagement at the EBONY Gala because it marked the place where their paths first crossed. "EBONY Power 100 is the event that we met at in the bathrooms, in the unisex bathroom," Good recalled, reminiscing with E! News.

The couple's love story has captivated many since they were first linked publicly in May 2023. They were spotted together watching a movie in Los Angeles, fueling speculation about their relationship. Good, who finalized her divorce from pastor DeVon Franklin in June 2022, described the "instant chemistry" she felt with Majors when they met.

The engagement announcement comes after a challenging period for the couple. Earlier this year, Majors faced a legal battle involving misdemeanor assault and harassment charges stemming from a domestic dispute with a former girlfriend. In June 2023, Good stood by his side throughout the trial, displaying unwavering support. The court proceedings concluded in December 2023, with Majors being found guilty on two counts of misdemeanor assault and harassment. He was sentenced to a year-long in-person batterers' intervention program.

During the trial, Good revealed that Majors had tried to dissuade her from being with him, seeking to protect her from the scrutiny and challenges that accompanied the legal proceedings. "He wanted to protect me," Good told PEOPLE. "I was like, 'My love, first of all, you're dealing with a Black Leo. And also, I grew up in this industry. The things that I've been through gave me the bandwidth to love other people, regardless.'"

Majors, known for his roles in films such as "Creed III," "Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania," and "The Harder They Fall," has faced professional setbacks amid his legal challenges. His bodybuilding film "Magazine Dreams," initially slated for release in December 2023, was pulled from Disney's schedule. However, Briarcliff Entertainment's CEO Tom Ortenberg confirmed last month that the film would premiere in early 2025.

Good, meanwhile, continues to shine in her role on the Prime Video series "Harlem." Throughout Majors' legal ordeal, she remained a visible and supportive presence, attending court sessions with him. Good's own personal journey has seen significant changes over recent years. She split from her former husband, Hollywood producer DeVon Franklin, in 2021 after nine years of marriage. The two had co-authored the book "The Wait: A Powerful Practice for Finding the Love of Your Life and the Life You Love," sharing insights from their relationship.

At the EBONY Gala, Majors expressed his deep admiration for Good, telling EBONY magazine, "Life is crazy-I'm crying to you-she is the most perfect, beautiful, divine (and) powerful being that I've ever met." Reflecting on their relationship, he added, "The fact that she said I'm gonna run with you, I'm with it. I feel great."
