Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are reportedly contemplating a move out of the United States, following Donald Trump's return to the presidency. According to royal experts, Trump's victory has deeply upset Meghan, who has been vocal in her disapproval of the former president in the past. Trump defeated Democratic candidate Kamala Harris in the recent election, securing his return to the White House.

Speaking to GB News, Daily Mail Editor at Large Charlotte Griffiths stated, "Meghan will be really upset to live in America with Trump as President. She really viscerally disliked him for many reasons and has previously called him a misogynist live on television." The Duchess's alleged discomfort with the political climate has reignited discussions about the couple's next move.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who currently reside in Montecito, California, with their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, have been rumored to be exploring new international residences. Reports suggest that the couple has recently acquired a property in Portugal, which could become their primary home. The move would place them closer to Princess Eugenie and her family, who also spend a significant amount of time in Portugal.

Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams highlighted the potential benefits of such a move, saying, "This gives Harry and Meghan a foothold in the EU and a base near Britain." The proximity to Europe could allow the Sussexes to visit the UK more frequently and potentially ease some of the tensions with the royal family.

Meghan and Harry's relationship with Princess Eugenie has been well-documented. Eugenie appeared prominently in the couple's Netflix series, Harry & Meghan, and remains one of their closest allies within the royal family. The Duke introduced Meghan to Eugenie early in their relationship, a move that solidified their bond.

The political landscape in the United States has also added complexity to the couple's situation. During Trump's first presidency, Meghan reportedly considered remaining in Canada to avoid moving to the U.S., reflecting her strong opposition to his administration. Trump has not been shy about his criticism of the Sussexes, once referring to Harry as "whipped" and lambasting their departure from royal duties.

Meanwhile, Ellen DeGeneres, a close friend of Meghan and a neighbor in Montecito, is also reportedly planning to leave the U.S. DeGeneres and her wife were recently seen in the Cotswolds, fueling speculation that they, too, may relocate abroad following Trump's election victory.

Royal commentator Kinsey Schofield noted on her YouTube channel that the election season has likely been challenging for the Sussexes. "Newsweek said the election was likely hard for the Sussexes. Jack Royston pointed out that the months leading up to election day must have been a difficult time for the Sussexes, spent watching from the sidelines in a race where it is clear who they want to win," Schofield said.
