The Princess of Wales has written a poignant letter to guests attending her fourth carol service amid her cancer recovery

According to PEOPLE, Princess Kate Middleton is sending out a heartfelt Christmas greeting to her followers.

In a touching message for her annual carol service and other UK church services, the Princess of Wales thanked those who went above and beyond for their families and communities this year. She promoted love, kindness, and empathy.

After her Sept. 9 announcement that she had completed chemotherapy, Princess Kate sent an emotional letter to the 1,600 guests who would meet in Westminster Abbey on Dec. 6 and abroad. Following a year of surgery and cancer diagnosis, and with her father-in-law, King Charles, still enduring treatment, her remarks seem even more poignant.

Princess of Wales, 42, appears to be thinking of people who have assisted her and her family.

Other royals will join Princess Kate and Prince William, 42. The couple may bring Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, 9, and Prince Louis, 6, as they have before.

Per HELLO!, Princess Kate said the holidays are her favorite time of year, "for celebration and joy."

She continued, "It also gives us the opportunity to slow down and reflect on the deeper things that connect us all. It is when we stop and take ourselves away from the pressures of daily life that we find the space to live our lives with an open heart, with love, kindness and forgiveness - so much of what the Christmas spirit is all about."

In addition to encouraging everyone to regard others, Princess Kate noted the Christmas narrative "reflects our own vulnerabilities and reminds us of the importance of giving and receiving empathy, as well as just how much we need each other in spite of our differences."

"Above all else, it encourages us to turn to love, not fear. The love that we show ourselves and the love we show others. Love that listens with empathy, love that is kind and understanding, love that is forgiving and love that brings joy and hope," she added.

Her annual carol service "is a heartfelt celebration of every one of you, and a reminder that at Christmas, and throughout the year, we must all shine for each other," she said. "Because in times of joy and sadness, we are all each other's light."

Prince William, Michelle Dockery (whose Irish fiancé died of a rare disease in 2022), Sophie Okonedo, and Richard E. Grant will read about love and empathy during the event. Paralympians and Olympians like Adam Peaty will attend.
