Princess Kate stressed the significance of "simple acts of kindness" and empathy, not to "judge or criticise those affected but to understand they are suffering from a serious mental health condition."
According to the Daily Mail, the Princess, who announced in September that she would return to royal duties slowly after completing preventative chemotherapy after major abdominal surgery in January, issued a message as Patron of the Forward Trust to support Addiction Awareness Week, which begins tomorrow.
"It has been heartening to see that progress is still being made to end the stigma surrounding those battling addiction. For too long, many have suffered in silence, harbouring feelings of shame and guilt about their condition, despite their vulnerability," she wrote.
Princess Kate stated that individuals grappling with addiction are fellow human beings, each possessing a unique narrative that often remains unseen or misunderstood by many.
She encouraged everyone to refrain from judgment or criticism. Instead, we should invest time in sitting with others and absorbing the principles of love and empathy. Providing emotional support and attentive listening are essential acts of compassion that help dismantle the misunderstandings people encounter.
The princess insisted that addiction was "not a choice" and that no one was immune from its grip.
Princess Kate stated that addiction is not a matter of choice. It is a significant mental health disorder that can impact any individual. We may collectively effect change and assist others in distress through humility and compassion.
"It is up to each and every one of us to change the way we think about and consider the many people coping with addiction. Because recovery is possible," per HELLO!
Next week, Princess Kate will participate in her largest public engagement since withdrawing at the start of the year to focus on her health.
She and Prince William will visit the Amir of Qatar and his wife at their London house and take them to Horse Guards for a formal welcome.
She's also finalizing plans for Westminster Abbey's "Together At Christmas" carol service next Friday. Royal officials claimed the event will underscore today's message of empathy.
Working with addicts has always been a Princess priority. She has long supported Addiction Awareness Week. She has led Addiction Awareness Week for years, supporting addicts with sincere remarks.
Princess Kate championed the topic from the start. An early charity she patronized was Action on Addiction.
Since 2021, the Princess has been a patron of the Forward Trust, which provides online chat help for those with addiction, homelessness, unemployment, and criminal convictions.
